Hardware - November 2006

Okay, so my monitor is and older one, about 4-5 years and this morning when i got up the picture display seemed really odd. There is a solid black border, then a solid grey border, then inside both borders is my desktop display which is REALLY faded. I've check all the display setting I could think of but don't really know what I'm looking for. I'm pretty sure it's not the video card, as I just got a brand new motherboard less than 2 months ago, and the video card was on board. If anyone knows what the problem may be, please help!

Okay, my San Disk doesn't want to work now, and my computer can't detect my files on there. So I don't want to format it, so that my files won't be erased on there. It is also on RAW and not FAT anymore. So can you please tell me how to save my files on there? I had a lot of them. My San Disk is also a Gigabyte, so there isn't much to be lost on it. Thanks! ^_^

They have almost the same specs except for the HP has an AMD Turion X2 TL-52 while the Sony has Intel Core Duo T2050. Which 1 should I get.

Ok, so I know that I am running a 256 PCIE Radeon X800 graphics card. Just I am curious as to how exactly to check whether it is a PCIE card. I go to run and run dxdiag and get the info but no where on there does it say which kind of card it is. I am just curious about how you go around checking whether the card is PCI, AGI, or PCIE card. i have an old micron industries laptop that i wanted to give to my little brother. he's 8 and doesn't really care that it only has windows 95' on it. i was working with it one day and i shut it down to go do something when i came back i turned it on and instead of booting up it said "invalid system disk replace then press any key" i have tried to insert my windows xp operating system disk to try to load xp but it wont read it. i dont know what i did could somone tell me how to fix it?

I am dangerously low on disc space. Besides deleting programs I don't use, what else can I do. And what is the difference between memory and dics space and what are they for. I am trying to download Itunes and every time I start the installation process there is a notice that pops up on my screen saying
"Jucheck.exe unable to locate component becuae OLEPRO32.DLL was not found reinstalling application may fix this probem"
and I dont understand what this means
