Apple, followed by Sony and Dell according to the PC World rankings

I would say Dell, in my opinion. First off, we have had the same cheap Dell desktop for 7 years and have upgraded it from Windows98, Windows2000, to Windows XP Professional Edition. I have tons of games, multitasking, and multimedia running on that computer, and have never had a problem with it till recently (user error). They have been highly reliable for me, and the worst I've ever dealt with was Compaq.
Brand new computer had only been set up for a day, and it crashed and has had multiple failures. It was fresh out of the box from Compaq, and they have STILL not sent us replacement parts, assisted us, or anything of the sort (its been over a year). Gateway and HP are good, HP being better. I work at a library and our computer heads solely buy HP because in their experiences, they are the best. When I use the ones at work, they are very good computers, and we run extremely highly-intensive programs.

Recommended: Dell or HP
No Buy: Compaq

Well dells already out they are known for their constant hardware failures
although Compaq's are very good and e machine's you just have to get the right model and not the 250 Dollar Model
But lets face it with a dell if you want a half decent computer you HAVE to buy the 1000 Dollar Model
but my freind bought a new hard drive for her dell and the BIOS doesn't recognize it NOT WINDOWS the BIOS you can't remove the BIOS but you can remove Windows.
so You CANNOT upgrade dell's!
Also IBM's are VERY VERY good if you can get that kind of money
Ive had one since 1995 Never had a problem with it :D
but it cost 2000 USD to

in the experience that your a student, I think of maybe your tight on money. a good determination may be to flow ordinary on cost, yet great on hardware. flow to you shut by Wal-Mart. they have great fees on Compaq Laptops and computers. There no longer as flashy in style, yet they're great to final an prolonged jointly as etc. in view that Compaq is in certainty the comparable organization as HP your getting the comparable form of laptop yet at a value for those that can not somewhat arise with the money for the "surely" HP desktops, believe me, look into it and in case you come back to a style to purchase one i'm particular it's going to make you happy. it comes with homestead windows XP pre-put in, it has place of work works and a pair video games to play on the element etc. purely plug on your internet and your waiting to flow, no installs required. From a guy or woman who had a Dell to a diverse, I easily dislike that organization. attempt a Compaq. Goodluck

I would never recommend Dell, since they do not last for more than a year. You might want to look at the Lenovo/IBM, HP, Apple or Sony. They are a much better product.

There are many:
- Dell
- HP-Compaq
- Sony
- Toshiba

For apple, you have only choice-Apple.

If you're a good PC user, you can easily determine which one is suitable for you and for your "pocket"
---
look on the design, mainboard, CPU, graphic card... don't look on the company.

Usually I build my own, using an Intel motherboard. Dell is good. Also Gateway. Gateway also owns e-machines. All of those are good.
