I am dangerously low on disc space. Besides deleting programs I don't use, what else can I do. And what is the difference between memory and dics space and what are they for. Also what can I buy to make my computer and computer game go faster. Whenever I play my games like Half Life, or Counter Strike or The Sims, It takes for ever to load. What do I need to do, buy? And what's a processor.

You are in very deep trouble. You need to learn the basics first.

CPU (Processor) - this is were all the calculations are done for programs. It is the brains of the machine. If it has slow brains then it won't run very fast.

RAM (memory) - this is a temporary storage medium. It allows the Hard drive and processor to exchange information but since the hard drive is very slow compared to the processor the RAM is what is used to transfer data back and forth from the hard drive to the CPU. When it becomes full it then needs to pause the system long enough for it to copy its contents to the hard drive. The larger the RAM the fewer times it needs to do this.

Hard drive - this is a more permanant form of memory. It doesnt lose its data if the power is lost (it might be corrupted but it doesn't lose most of the data). This is were programs are installed. They use this storage for the program and its graphics and sounds.

Symptoms

Slow computer
Clean out useless software from the hard drive. Think about buying a new hard drive for expanded storage.
Upgrade RAM to a larger storage amount. If you using 256MB of RAM for a WinXP machine then upgrade to atleast 512MB.
Upgrading a processor is much more involved and will be left out. Talk to a professional (Bestbuy rep or something) about upgrading your machine further.

Games like Sims or Counter Strike are very hungry for RAM and hard drive space. If it takes forever to load then either the RAM is too small for the these programs and/or the CPU is too slow to process these games in real time.

A typical computer is built around the early 2000's
Single core AMD Athlon or Intel Pentium 4 1.5GHz to 2.2GHz
256MB to 1024MB(1Gig) of RAM
and
40-120 GB of hard drive storage.

Typical PCs for 2006/2007
Dual Core AMD 64 or Intel Core2 2GHz - 4GHz (when overclocked and multithreading)
2048MB(2Gig) to 8192MB(8Gig) of RAM
300GB to 3000GB(3Terabytes) of hard drive storage.

If its is older than 2000 then consider buying a new PC.
PC tech is getting cheaper everyday.

ok u need to buy a new hard drive from best buy or circut city, disk space is how much space u have on your hard drive and memory is your computer's random accessed memory (otherwise known as RAM) which is on the mother board they r the long sticks located usually by the fan on the right side of it if not there then try below it that is the difference my friend, more ram will help the games go faster, a graphics card, and a video card any1 of those will help it go faster, and a processor is what runs your programs and computer without your computer will not run buying a new 1 of these will also help your computer games to run faster to they run at 200 to 400 dollars good luck

Firstly a quick run through bout computers..
Processor (CPU), is your brain, so to say..
It's the base speed that your PC runs.
RAM, is the memory. You can upgrade it to
run your games faster.
Your Hard-drive (HDD)is where you store any
and all data. If you get a "low disk space" prompt,
it means your HDD is all most full. Try deleting data,
like music or video's etc. If you really want more disk
space, buy another HDD, or back your data up on
CD/DVD..

Try clearing the temp files on your hard drive, along with any unneccasry files, videos and temporary internet files. It would be best if you could post the specs of your PC. You can always buy bigger harddrives and RAM a good resource for that could be http://www.techcypher.com . As per what hard-drive and RAM are has already been answered before so I will not bother with it again.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
