Hi, I have an 80GB Seagate hard disk that I have bought at most two years ago and I bought a hard disk enclosure as well. Just about two months ago, it started acting up - it wasn't being recognised by my comp. I have a new laptop now and it still doesn't work like it's supposed to. My comp recognizes it as a USB Mass Storage Device but the hard drive doesn't appear. When I try to access Device Manager my comp freezes and when I unplug the device from the usb port, my comp goes back to normal.

I have searched the web for numerous forums that may give me an idea as to how I can solve this problem. This motivated me to buy a new hard drive enclosure. However, doing this did not solve my problem.

Now, when I plug the hard disk enclosure, my comp reads the enclosure but when it starts to install the hard disk, I get a blue screen with a "physical memory dump error". I don't know what to do know. I have important data in my hard drive that's why I want to recover it.

I'm heading off to college next fall and my parents agreed to buy me a new computer, i really like laptops and was kind of looking at a mac. Would a mac be a good computer to do school work with and still be able to perform entertainment tasks such as music, playing dvd's etc.?

Running an HP 4500 DN . Greens coming out Pea Green as in too dark and muddy. Have tried every setting and every driver but no change. The only change i can get is when i alter the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black settings on the printer front panel but theres not enough alteration available. Not sure what to do next!

I recently replaced the fan on my CPU. Since I have done this, when switching on my PC it just opens the BIOS. After I exit the BIOS it restarts itself but there is no power on self test beep and nothing appears on the monitor. I have to switch off completely and restart, then the whole thing happens again.
I am not sure whether it might have something to do with the memory, as each time it does a memory test on start up the number of kilobytes is different. For example, it should be about 647000 but the last time I booted it it said 24000. I know a fair bit about PCs but this one has stumped me and any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

a message pops up something about Microsoft C++ and then the cursor becomes an hourglass and rotates continuously, it only goes away when I restart the computer. This is a new computer, an HP Pavillion.

Hi i just got this dvd re writer of a friend of mine its a pioneer 106 + re writer - just put it into my computer connecting it where the old dvd drive was and got a message secondary slave ATAPI incompatable ???? i am no pc wiz i need a quick fix people help me lol also i just looked in my computer and my cd re3 writer isnt listed either???? it looks as if i have no cddrives???? My hard drive was failing and active smart said it was the seek time, it has a threshold of 40 and it was down at 10. This has been going on for about a month. I turned it on when i got home this afternoon and SMART WARNING came up as usual and when i got into it i decided to start deleting old no longer used programs. I deleted 2 or 3 and turned the computer off. As i have already ordered a new hard drive and i have my info backed up and am no longer stressed about this, but i turned it on tonight to delete some more and there was no warning. I loaded and active smart control said the seek time had gone up from 10 to 100 and the condition was good and its expected life span is 2 1/2 years. Should i be worried, does it do this when its about to die, or should i just be happy its all fixed???

I bought a Vaio in March this year. Within three months the letters had started to wear off the keyboard! It took months to get it sorted out, Sony tried to say it was not covered by warranty because it was wear and tear!!!! After some pressure from me, they relented and replaced the keyboard f.o.c, though I had to be without my laptop for over a week, and the engineers wiped the hard drive in the process!

I have just noticed that one of the rubber feet is missing - it probably came off whilst it was away as it's not in either of the two places where I use the laptop or store it. (and it doesn't go outside of the house). Phoned the helpdesk, yes they could send one out to me, but there would be a charge - guess how much? £15.00!!!!!!!!! Rip off or what?

I had a Toshiba laptop for four years prior to this, never gave me a days trouble. How I wish I had not believed all the rubbish about Sony Vaio being the best. Shall never buy anything Sony again.

I have a PIII 600MHz / 80GB HDD / 128MB Ram / N-vidia 32Mb Graphics Card / OS win2k professional, recently this system started hanging up specially startup, if after 3-4 hang up it starts properly after then u can run with for next 10hrs withou any prob. I tried changing RAM & HDD, SMPS but problem is yet to resolve.

I have a movie which is of 367 mb in my comp. but when i try to burn it, its space is shown as 756mb & so i am not able to burn it. Can anyone tell me what to do.

In Nero, when we are adding the data which we have to write, 2 lines are shown in the place where it tells how much space has been used. Yellow line is to show the capacity of the CD. what is the other line (red in colour).

Plus, which graphic card slot is better, AGP or pci-e

it started off saying error code 4, then 7 and then started to freeze, which resulted in my having to turn it off at the button (not the plug) it then tried to 'recover' but stopped and now says 'no operating system' and theres something called 'glue parts' missing ! ive never heard of it before i dont know whats going on! lucky i have a laptop but the pc is what the whole fam use and im desperate to get it sorted now as its something thats always in use and its like weve all lost a limb and i really dont want a 4 and 9 yr old on the laptop!! lol
any ideas anyone?
