I have a PIII 600MHz / 80GB HDD / 128MB Ram / N-vidia 32Mb Graphics Card / OS win2k professional, recently this system started hanging up specially startup, if after 3-4 hang up it starts properly after then u can run with for next 10hrs withou any prob. I tried changing RAM & HDD, SMPS but problem is yet to resolve.
what do i do

The next time it hangs, pop the cover and look to see if your CPU fan is turning. You might have a balky fan.

You've done everything I can think of. If you run the spyware and antivirus programs, they might be contributing to the problem. Do you have enough memory to support all of today's programs? Is your computer an HP? They are known for having problems. Good luck. If your computer is new and still under warranty, call tech support and see what they recommend.

Could be a lot of reasons...
if you tried other solutions and still having problem pls try this too.
Dust in the RAM slot can be a cause...Clean the slot by blowing compressed air...and polishing the RAM connection points with white rubber ..

If your system is free of virus and spywares, install the latest service pack of Win2000. If it still doesnot work, format your Hard disk and reinstall eeh Operating System.

Sounds like a bad sector on your hard-drive...get some drive scrubbing software to format your hard-drive hardcore style and not just on the surface..that will work, trust me

hmm sounds like to me that u may have some programs takin up ur start up it would be easier to help you with yahoo im, other wise u could try looking in start, run, type msconfig, and look at the start up tab, can always IM me

You must check for Virus also.
It might be possible in your system.

Clear all cookies and temp. files and run anti virus.

if your problem doesn't solved so re-install your windows.
