If you operating system is running flawlessly, you can just backup it using special backup software. For example you can easily create bootable CD/DVD containing your operating system along with important files using True Image by Acronis. You'll be able to restore your OS in case it fails using this disk. For backing up I'm using Acronis True Image 10.0. This program can backup you entire PC or separated files and programs settings (Outlook, Mozilla, iTunes and more). So after installing True Image you can be quite calm for your contacts, documents, photos, program settings and another important data. I think True Image is the best backup software for now.
