I'd like to make a backup copy of "My documents" on DVD-R disks.

The "My Documents" folder contains 13GB of data.

I have DVD-R disks that can hold 4.7GB of data; therefore, it should require 3 disks to copy all of my files.

My question: How does the computer know when to stop copying data to a disk to prevent the process from stopping in the middle of a Word document?

Would this have to be a manual thing where I would chose which documents, photo's, and video will go on each disk so that I don't exceed the 4.7GB per disk? I'm a bit "fuzzy" on this. Can someone help clear this up for me?

I have a software program on my computer called "Nero SmartStart" which came with some hardware I bought (probably my DVD writer. I assume I'll use this software to do the copying is that correct? Or can I do it another way?

Ok so I have an internal cd/dvd burner in my computer and I have ta dvd decrypter, I'm trying to burn a ps2 game and all seems like it's going well until about 28% of the decrypting. Right about at that time I get an error message saying

I am planning to buy laptop and i want to use it for music production. I want to know what specifications i should have inorder to make music without any problem. Being mobile is important for me thats why i am focused on laptops? But are laptops good choice for Music Production??

Will these specs be enough to make professional quality music on a laptop?

Specs:
-----------
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
2 GB DDR Ram
120 GB 5400 rpm Harddisk
667Mhz Front-side bus

Or should i go for PC that has Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz,
7200 rpm Harddisk, 800Mhz Front-side bus and 4 GB Ram?

Whats your suggestions?

is there any users that use a nvidia ge-force 6200(256mb) as i bought a 256mb model the other week and i am very impressed with a graphic card costing £45 with these specs...pixel and shader model 3.0...256mb memory.....
also i played doom3 and quake4 using fraps(gives frames per second) and using the card you can get 55-70 f.p.s on 1024x768 and high quality settings, this is plenty high enough to give you a good gaming experience
so why pay £300 for a pci-e card which will only give you a extra 40 f.p.s and you probally wont notice
the money i saved with this card i spent on extra system memory and a rear chassis fan to aid ventelation as the card only uses a heatsink
any users use this card, any feedback would be great
thanks

Ok, here are the problems.

The most obvious one is the fact that it turns on, then after loading stuff from the bios, it resets. I tried to load from the windows CD, but I can't access it.

Here is a couple things I think it could be, either hard drive failure, or PSU. I installed a 120gig hard drive. It currently had an 80 gig as main, now it also has a 120 gig slave drive.

Ive been having problems for a little while. When I first got the computer 4 years ago, about a week or 2 after, I noticed an error that said "hard drive failure imminent." Even though it was brand new, and recently I figured out it was a Maxtor.

Certain problems ive had in the past are stuff like, losing administrative controls, things messing up and going really slow, internet downloading at 38kb instead of 180kb.

Now, could it be that the PSU is dead and shuts down the same spot everytime it starts? Or, could the main drive be fried?

Oh, and right as this all happened, I got a stop error...

My laptop stopped powering up and there was no battery left. It happened while I was gone to lunch for an hr or so. Any ways, I bought an external enclosure for my 2.5 hard drive in my laptop hooked it up to another laptop and could successfully see the drive over USB. How ever, the most important folder for me is F:\Documents and Settings\myusername which is now inaccessible. On my old laptop this was nothing but C:\Documents and Settings\myusername. I need to access the desktop folder beneath it, which has more folders in it that has important data on it. As of now it shows inaccessible, 0 bytes and read only in properties. The drive was on a laptop with win xp sp2 with NTFS. Any pointers on how to access it will be much appreciated.

Thanks

In order to run the "full Windows Vista experience", I'll have to get a DirectX 9 capable graphics card. The PC I'm using is 3 years old and has an AGP. Should I bother with this upgrade or would it be better cost/performance wise to get a new system with a PCIe card?
