"funky"? that must be a new technical term is it?

Go to your printer, Dell all in one center is a good one, click on scan, go to creative ideas, click on send to word, or email or folder or web page. Once you do a preview of the scanned item and are satisfied with size and position just click scan and it's done. Check by going to word, click on file and see if its there.

Hi. If your scanner supports "Scan to application" then yes, you could scan to a Word document (.doc).

save it as a word document not a jpg

Just send it as an attachment and it will look the same as it does on your computer.
