I bought a PC at the beginning of the year. It was advertised as being 3.06ghz. I noticed in the system properties that it is only running at 1.61ghz (checked with other program). There are no jumper switches on the motherboard for altering bus speed, and no settings within the BIOS for changing multipliers. I have taken off the heatsink to check it is actually a 3.06 (it is stamped on the top of the CPU). I think it is too late to send the computer back now. So what would i need to get to make it run a full speed? New motherboard? Is the chip even capable of running at that speed?? Any help much appreciated.

I noticed after 3 years of daily use, my computer's hard drive is getting louding when accessing files. It does not always make noise, but most of the time it does. Should I worry about losing that drive soon, or is that normal for aging hard drives?

I took my computer into a shopand asked to save what was on the computer ...they said okay but they crashed their equipment and my info was wiped. Well I know it is still there I spent $100 to have it checked ...so I didn't use it as I wanted to retain the info. Pictures of a child we lost. the quote was 1200$US I don't have that and wondered if things are less expensive now...that was about 2 years ago. Thanks

This is my first computer built, and its definately NOT running near its full performance already. I used an Athlon 3400, a Biostar NF4ST-A9 motherboard, A Patriot 512mb RAM stick, and a EVGA Nvidia Geforce FX 5500 video card. Could you possibly find the problem from those given specs? I cant stand this terrible lag. I have a suspicion that it is the video card, and maybe I need another stick of RAM to get it to perform better, but I want to know the problem before trying to switch anything. It also has an 80 GB hard drive if it helps. Also, will removing the video card cause any software changes or can I just remove it and the motherboard will automatically use the one built in on the bus?
