Desktop icons changing for the e of explorer...why?

I had pretty icons on my desktop (like the big red Y of Yahoo) and after a few days, they changed for that boring explorer E...why?

Chances are this is just a glitch, and a reboot should correct it. if a reboot does not correct it, you more than likely have a virus.
