Hey, everybody. Since I have bought a second-hand NEC fax machine without a use guide or manual, I don't know how to use it. If any of you have the manual (english version) or know where to download it, please let me know, thank you.

Is there any way to scan and repair the registry of an external HDD?

I've been removing applications to have more space. Running Win XP. After I remove an application using the control panel, it still shows up on program files even after I restart. Plus they show up in the registry. Is it safe to delete programs in program files and/or registry (under software) after I try to remove them using the control panel or uninstall from the progam files. Any other things to clean up the hard drive other than the usual stuff, defrag, clean up, disk scan? Thanks

I thought that if you filled up an internal hard drive, that the performance of the computer will suffer; it sure seems to for me currently. I am buying a new computer, but I also need a TB of storage, so I want to know if I should do the HD internally or just buy an external TB HD.

I have burn some dvds using the burner before, yesterday it started to make humming noise, i thought it may have been the CPU overheating, so i turned it off, and this afternoon i tried to burn another dvd, and the burner seems to be the one making the humming noise..... when i put my hand on the close tray, i feel a little vibration. Is the burner dying?? or could it be something else?

I'm trying to put an older computer back together but it's mobo battery is gone. How do I know what type mobo battery (the nickel size battery; I believe most are lithium) I need for this board?

Mobo is a: MSI Slot 1 Motherboard (MS6117) Ver.1.1 LX6.

Help please. I'll never get this thing going without the battery. Again, it's just a nickel size chrome battery that fits in a shallow small hole on the mobo and is held in place by a small metal clip (that clip is probably the anode or cathode side of the battery too).

This is a desktop......NOT a laptop.

Computer wouldn't allow me to access safe mode using F8 so I manually went to safe mode using msconfig and boot tab, however when couputer rebooted my screen was blank and the on/off button was yellow. It says to press any key or mouse however nothing happens. Any suggestions???

The printer and monitor work fine. We had a power outage a few times last week so I am wondering if this could have blown the circuit or something. I am pretty sure that we have a surge protector but I am not positive. The computer is an HP Pavilion from around 2000 so it really is not very old.

i have a computer that lags when scrolling thru stuff like IE, or even just lager folders. i just reformatted, and that was the first thing i checked (it was running 20 processes when i checked) i have read some of the other posts like mine and have tried them all out (deleted cookies, defrag, stuff in BG....)
Specs:
ASUS A8V motheroard
1 GB corsair value select RAM
150 GB HDD
AMD 3500+
just upgraded from a 64 MB ASUS graphics card to a 256 MB ATI Radeon 9550

there are no viruses as i just reformatted
this computer is used mostly for surfing the internet and word processing.
i have all the latest video drivers
ran memtest overnight and it reported no problems

what can it be?

I recently got a new video card - a GeForce 6600, and everything's fine. But I started having problems with my games. During a game, my PC will freeze up, and it will restart itself (Although sometimes it just freezez up, and I have to restart it.) Sometimes, after the PC rebooted, it gave me a "Windows Message" and suggested that the drivers of the card had something to do with it. When I first got my card, the guy at the store installed drivers as well, but I couldnt watch video with it ( The PC would freeze up, and the mouse would move a litltle, then freeze, move, freeze, and so on), so I went to the guy and he told me that he installed a better driver. I could now watch video, but that's when I started having the problem of it freezing in the middle of the game. Today, I reinstalled the driver, and it was ok, untill it froze up in the game. It did let me go to desktop, though. I went to DXDIAG, and after doing the 3d tests, I got warnings that there is a filure... Help, please?
