I know it's a really specific question, but it's really important that I get it as soon as possible so I can connection via vpn. I had it, but for some reason the profile got corrupted and I didn't save this particular information. Thankyou. The website of the company is phns.com, if that is any help. I'd be really appreciative to anyone who can help me with this!

Well, my family has been using Verizon Online for about two years now, and this is the third or fourth router we have had to receive from them, specifically the second or third router that is this exact same model. The previous ones have all lived their life spans in roughly 8 months time. The end of which, we spend 3 days on the phone with Verizon tech support in India, before they actually admit the router is going to need to be replaced, the majority of which is always spent on the same repetitive "ipconfig" steps. The router never fails not to be able to be used again, and they send us another one.

This is my current problem. The past several days, the third light from the left on the router has been deactivated, seemingly like clockwork. Roughly half the time, because of the absence of this light, the internet is unavailable. I have unplugged the router and let it sit, the first time for 5 minutes, and again for 20 another day. This appears to temporarily solve the problem

I need to enable the TCP/IP, but can't do it because it's not in the network connections area on my control panel. It used to be there, but it disappeared 3 weeks ago and I haven't been able to connect to the internet since.

Ok, so I have a linksys router, and I connect to a network called "default", and occasionally to the network in the room next to me. For several weeks, my wireless internet hasn't worked. It connects to default, but it doesn't work. It will recieve 1 or 2 packets of data, yet it still says it's connected. Does anyone have any suggestions...or alternatives to using wireless?

The reason I want to connect 2 Linux boxes together via infiniband cards in each is to superscale the processors. I want my main Linux box to offload 'latent' processor queues to the second. If possible, (and before I buy the infiniband PCI-E cards), I would set up as follows: PC #1 AMD x2, Mandriva linux. This is the main PC. When its work queues are two long it should offload to PC #2 AMD socket 754, minimalist Linux with kernel compiled specifically for task. Both have available PCI-E slots. This "p2p network" is only for super scalar experiments with Linux kernel. I am not very knowledgeable with hardware and networking. I need help
Another use is that (If I can even do it) to have a "processor share" PC on direct link with two other PCs (via 2 PCI-E slots). This PC would do nothing but share out its CPU cycles in a demanding task I have. (with another PC sitting around, why not cluster and get the most out of what I am doing - I want to cluster 2 PCs without a switch.)

I have just bought a new computer and have been left with the task of transferring all the files from my old laptop, to my new pc. I have been told that the best way to do this is to set up a home network, but I'm having a bit of trouble doing this. Any help would be appreciated, either advice for the network setup, or for perhaps a different way to transfer all my old data.

If it helps, my setup is as follows:
New pc has Windows Vista and built in wireless internet, and of course I have a wireless router for this. My laptop has the previous version of windows, am using a USB dongle for wireless internet access. I also have network cables if they are needed.
Please help me! :)

I would say just over 90%, in my experience. Wired networks have a 99.9% success rate, for me. My main issue is tracking down what's wrong with a failing WiFi connection. What are some techniques/tools that one can use to troubleshoot failing WiFi connections?

It did work for a long time but now it just won;t work with any of my laptops. the signal seems to flicker on then just not show up anymore even when I am next to the router.

All my wired machines work fine. I had a similar problem before and resetting the router seemed to work but not this time.

If it matters one of the latops is an ibook and the other a macbook, don't have any windows or linux laptops.

I have a NETGEAR wireless router and an ethernet cable, but no High-speed Internet, only dial-up. All I want to do is connect my desktop with my laptop and share folders by SMB and login to my desktop with an ssh client. Can I do this with a Wireless router and two XP boxes?
