I want to connect via Remote Desktop to my primary PC here at home. I have a Linksys Wireless-G router in which my primary PC and my laptop are both wireless computers when it comes to the internet. If I'm on my laptop and I'm at HOME, and try to connect to the primary PC, it lets me, as I'm in the same network. However, if I'm OUTSIDE the Road Runner (home) network, it says that the laptop cannot find the specified IP address. (basically it won't connect). I tried even doing "port forwarding" via Linksys' given directions, and it still does not seem to work. I have heard of these other "stand-alone" programs like "PC Anywhere" and the like - do these work better than trying to configure your PC to use Windows "REmote Desktop" - AND how can I get RD to work correctly?

in order to get the internet installed or rather access to the internet you need a phoneline (unless i am mistaken) so you need a landline. In order to have a landline installed you need the means with which to pay for the phoneline(by tradition this is in the form of a bank account with a 'direct debit' system. Ok all logical and sensible. However in order to have a bank account you need to have proof of income in the form of salary checks etc etc. Now, if you dont have salary checks, live in france, and dont have a French bank account (but have the means to pay for goods and services, by which i mean a credit card) you dont have the possibility of having a phone line installed. SO the question is firstly can i get the internet with just my credit card in other words can i pay for a wi fi service with my credit card, (if such a service exists for people who dont have a fixed phone line)
Secondly, do i need a special wifi computer to use wifi or do i need to buy a usb adaptor etc???

My network was working fine before, but then I had to reformat my hard drive. I reconfigured the settings just fine, and I can still connect to the internet via my wireless router (as you can see ;-)) but I can't use File and Printer Sharing anymore. I set the settings just as they were before, but that doesn't seem to help. When I click on View Workgroup Computers, it only shows this computer, not the one I want to connect to. I want to be able to print and share files though! Please help!
