Well, any software or hardware has to compatable with Apple MAC products and espcially for the iBook. So before dowloading or buying hardware, you have to check for compatibility first. I would always start with the Apple site first. You download programs the same way as with a PC.

Not enough info. What happens when it doesn't work? Does it launch but gives an error message?

Stuffit Expander, for unstuffing files, came with your OS X installation. It is in Applications > Utilities. It has a built-in nag message to tell you when free upgrades are available. Of course, you can disable the nag message. Then you get the updates by opening Stuffit Expander and click on the iSupport menu and choose "Check for updates..."
