I've always wanted my own laptop,because the one I use, I can't get on until 7:00PM every night because it's also my dad's laptop for work. And, I sometimes need to get homework done, and I can't because the computer is not home. My birthday is January 22, and I really want my own computer..I don't really like laptops though, so I'm going to ask for a desk top..[laptops are waaay more expensive than desktops], so should I ask for one? Or would it be a bad idea? Oh, and I'm asking my grandparents for the computer, and they are sorta rich, so I'm sorta fine, but I still think that its too much. Should I ask for a desktop for my birthday? Please help! Much thanks! :]

my download speed tests show that an average download speed is about 165-170 KB/s. But when I try to download larger files like 400MB, it takes more than 5 hrs at a speed of about 40-50 KB/s?! is this normal? what can i do to improve if there is a way.

this happens not in a torrent download, just regular rapidshare and megaupload type

I've followed the setup instructions which are easy to follow ( I think). I've tried their website and called but just ended up on hold forever.

I simply can't get online through the router. I'm running WindowsXP.

I have a US keyboard, I changed the computer to British, which is fine. The # is now £ and " is @ and so on. But I need a backward slash whih now is #, I,ve tried all keys. When in CMD Ctrl and the backward slash produces a backward slash, but with a ^ as well and I get syntex is incorrect.

I bought a computer game for my laptop and everytime I try to install it I get a croption error for some type of file and its a new laptop and the game and my laptop are compatable.....Any idea how I can fix it cuz?

Hi all. I have finally decided to get a new laptop. Basically, I think I have found the one that will be best for me and it is quite expensive. I dont want to spend all this money only to find that the laptop I bought, is actually no good. Just want to quickly add that the sole purpose for this laptop is going to be gaming, both single player and online MMO's. :)

Basic specs for it are as follows:
Base System-Intel Core 2 duo processor T7800,Operating System- Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit, Memory- 4GB, Video Card- Dual NVIDIA Geforce 8700M GT with SLI technology.

Im pretty sure thats all the important stuff. Hope I have not missed anything. I want it to be able to run the latest games well and on high settings (obviously). Games such as stalker, Bioshock, maybe crysis, Supreme Commander. Also future MMO's such as 'Age of Conan'.
Sorry about dragging this on. Anyway does this seem like the perfect laptop for a gamer right now? Thankyou for reading and any help would great! :)

When just opening it and trying to delete it from there it says "cannot remove folder AUDIO_TS: the disk is write protected. Remove the write protection or use another disc." Well the audio ts is the file name but i don't know how to remove the write protection?

I know a scammer who just scammed me and is thinks im that stupid to pay him more. He is not online at yahoo messenger (he will definetly come back cuz he wants more from me) but u cant say anything about my name or anything about me cuz i dont want him to know yet that i know he is a scammer.
