Assuming you are using Windows XP.
Start in SAFE mode

Then:
► Start
► Control Panel
► System
► Advanced
► Startup & Recovery
► Settings
► System Failure
► Clear Automatic Restart

Then RUN chkdsk /f

Do a virus scan. Now...

If you find no virus present, my best guess is that you are trying to run a console program which closes itself.
