Which tactic is better for the software and mechanical life of a computer (laptop and desktop)...

1. Leave it ON all day even if its not being used, and turn it
OFF only @ night?

2. Hibernate it everytime its not being used and turn it OFF only @ night?

3. Turn it OFF everytime its not being used and back ON again when needed?

Thank you

OK, Thank you all for your prompt answers! So I think I'll buy the XP one but I also like the idea of getting used to Linux (I actually like the idea of quality freewares in general). I've heard about partitions - dividing my computer in 2 and running either one or the other systems. Is this really feasible? Should I try it?

Ok the total free space of my hard disk should be 63.3 GB. I wanted to download a 7 GB file from bitcomet. But I changed my mind and stopped downloading and removed the file and the software. But still my hard disk is showing it has 54 GB of free space. What can I do to solve this problem?
10 points to the person who can solve this.

Oh btw my operating system is Windows Vista.

Hi, I need some examples of interesting and unique navigation structures for websites. I checked the Webby awards already and didn't really like most of what I saw. If it takes more than one click to get to the content, don't mention it. That to me is automatically bad navigation. Anything else is certainly fair. Thanks!

i know there is a virus in my computer because its glitching , it happened when i downloaded a file that was completely fake i realized after i "installed" it, i've tried MANY anti-virus programs to try and detect it but they all come up empty, i've used programs like:
Microsoft Windows Live One Care,
AVG Anti-virus/Spy,
Verizon Yahoo Anti-virus protection, and one more that i dont remember, i also used them independently, not at the same time so they wouldn't glitch too, but it still doesnt work, i seriously need a lift.

I set up my email server's IMAP through Outlook 2003. Previously, I had been using POP3, but I love IMAP because it keeps everything synched (my email's web-based access, Outlook, and Mobile). The only gripe is how incoming messages to Gmail flow into the "IMAP Inbox", but when I send items, they show up in "Sent Items" in my Oultook Personal Folders. The "Inbox" in my Personal Folders remains empty. Is there any way to have my IMAP Inbox synch (or whatever you want to call it) with the Personal Folders inbox so everything is in one place?

It seems as though only POP3 access utilizes the Personal Folder Inbox.

Thanks!

My computer came with about 25 trial games mixed in with 9 free games. The new Vista "games" menu makes it look like separate programs when it turned out that the trial games came from a single module that accessed the games online. I took a gamble and deleted it hoping that the free games would remain. They did. Why can't computers come with a single file with instructions on what can be removed without affecting anything?
