Having switched from Microsoft to Apple I was excited to get back into Yahoo IM'ing. I have, however, as yet, not been able to find a cam that works with OS X 10.4.10. Tomorrow my new operating system (Leopard) arrives and I sure would love to have the ability to cam again. Does anyone know of a cam that is suitable with my Desktop MacPro? In advance, thank you very much for your time.

Please provide specifics. The motel is small, 30 units. it is layed out in a L-like shape, each leg being appx. 200ft long. It is 2 levels, with brick walls. We're finally getting internet run to the motel, but they say I have to put in the router and anything else needed myself. I've heard some routers won't handle as many people as others, I'd also like to be able to accomodate the various standards (are the g, n, etc. all compatible for instance or do I need a router that will handle all of them?). I doubt all 30 rooms will ever be all be logged in at once. Please be specific in your answer, for instance, a model of router or specific names would be helpful. Thanks.

I just hooked my old HD up to the computer in order to save some documents I really need to get onto the new hard drive. Unfortunately, on the old hard drive, I had set up Windows XP for myself (Owner) and 2 other people. Since I cannot boot from the old hard drive, or if there is a way to do it, I don't know what that is, I cannot enter my password to log on as Owner on the old Hard drive. There is no opportunity to log on to the Owner section of the old drive. I have already salvaged the other stuff, but I need the Owner's documents before I deep-six the drive.

How can I login if I can't even boot off the old drive?

That was an Atari 800. Bought it at the tail end of 1980. I believe the clock speed was 35 MHz and the memory 64K. About a year later, I got a kit that permitted bank switching and the use of 128 K of memory. Though the clock speed and memory nothing compared to today's computers, it had some pretty fast graphics though very low definition. It also handled math pretty fast. As to memory storage that was via cassette recorder. I would type in programs copied from computer magazines and store. This is really precious. One weekend I was typing in a long extensive program. I ad actually been up over 24 hours. I think I was about 2 lines short of completing the entries and a drunk hit a pole knocking out the power. All the work gone in an instant. When you would put the tape into computer you would hear the sound from the data flow. Often after 10 or 15 minutes of almost musical flow of data, you'd get this flat tone. That ment it had screwed up and you had to start from the beginning.

I bought a dvd burner external, hp 1040. I use my roommate's dvd burning program which is just dvd shrink 3.2. The dvd decrypts fine and encodes fine but then when it burns it burns a couple % and stops and says error. Then if I do it again it works fine. So this wouldn't be a problem except my dvd's are not rewritable and therefore ruined. So it is costing me two dvd's for every one i burn. This has happened on the last 4out of 5 dvd's ive tried to burn. Any thoughts?

Okay...I need to build a computer for myself, and need to know how to do it.

I am a teenager and I have lots of experience with a computer. I've taken college computer classes already and I figured it was time to take the next step and build my own.

Here's what I need to be able to do with it:
Watch movies, Listen to music, pretty much anything to do with entertainment...besides extreme gaming. But I still don't want any lag and I want smooth, eye popping graphics. I want to be able to have at least a gig of RAM for multitasking. I want a 250 Hard drive or bigger and I want to be able to burn CD's and DVD's. I want a liquid cooling system, if possible. I want pretty much the best I can get for under 1500 dollars. I want my computer to look cool, which means a nice case. I want a motherboard that can have up to four gigs of RAM. I want it to be able to handle a DVD burner and maybe a 3.5 inch floppy. I want it to be awesome!!! I also want Windows XP. I need to know how to build this!!

I topped out my my RAM at 4GB. I knew ahead of time the system would only read 3gb 0r 3.5gb. It turned out to read 3GB. Did I waste money on the 4th GB, or will it go to use somewhere in the PC? I am running Windows XP Home.

I have an old hard drive which has a lot of data on it. It would save me days or weeks if I could get the data from this drive instead of re-entering everything. But when I connect the drive to the motherboard, Windows Explorer doesn't find it.

I disconnected the CD and attached the old HD to the cable the CD was using, and also to the power supply. I booted and tried to find the new hardware, but Windows didn't find it.

Next, I changed the boot sequence to boot off the CD, because the old HD is connected to where the CD should go. I got 'No drive found, insert system disk and try again'.

What should I try next to get the computer to recognize the hard drive?

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 1420 that I got this summer before I came to college. Being stupid I tried downloading a program to watch TV shows online, and ever since then my laptop hasn't been the same. First I couldn't even open up the regular menu - the screen was blank but I could see the cursor. I was able to open it in start mode and ran a virus scan or two and was able to start it up normally.
Now it takes me forever to open up a program - anything from internet explorer to itunes. Once I get the internet and such going it works fine, but just so slow.
Along with that, I can kind of feel my laptop heating up really quickly and staying that way if I'm online a lot.
There is a place at my college I can take my laptop to have it fixed, but I'm trying to take care of it from my dorm so I don't hvae to do without it for awhile.
Any kind of help as far as defragmenting my computer or whatnot would be much appreciated.
P.S. If you couldn't tell by now I'm not that tech savvy

(Well not REALLY a computer emergency...just hoping that caught your attention!)
I put on these sticky letters to adjust to my french setting on the computer (you know, to add the accents and stuff) and I didn't need it anymore (it was only for Rosetta Stone and I have now finished) so I took them off. WELL...they left this nasty sticky residue and I can't get it off! It just smudges onto the whole key and makes a sticky mess...what can I do to get rid of it? I have a MacBook...
