I've got a MacBook version 10.4.9 and can't remember the password. My friend's got a Version 10.4.10 cd, can this be used to reset the password or will it have to be a version 10.4.9 cd? Thanks

You MUST use the OS X disk that came with your MacBook.

Your friend's Recovery Disk would only work if his Mac is the same Model as yours.

By the way, you'll probably lose all your personal data. Next time right your password down and tape it to the underside of your keyboard until you memorize it.
