Hi, I need some examples of interesting and unique navigation structures for websites. I checked the Webby awards already and didn't really like most of what I saw. If it takes more than one click to get to the content, don't mention it. That to me is automatically bad navigation. Anything else is certainly fair. Thanks!

Personally, I like the http://www.ibm.com and all their sites. Their support site is especially easy to navigate. I am not sure if it meets your "one click" requirement. I don't believe you will ever find a site with a lot of good information available, give you one click navigation to it. Even a good search engine is going to take at least two clicks to get the the information.

This is coming from a vehement IBM basher before I ended up in a support role for a shop with mostly IBM hardware and software. I found their web support pages not only easy to navigate, but I always found what I was looking for very quickly. That was 8 years ago, and they have only gotten better.

I think you might be focus on using the Navbar, as its navigate easier and quickly just at the side of the page, unlike the traditional menus. When the navbar is clicked, also provided the submenu items beside it so that the user is easier to make a choice. Don't ever force the user to use the back button to make the other choice.

One more option, you can make the most popular contents to pop in the main window or to be displayed on the homepage each time the user visits. This may speed up the user interest and attraction to surf into your site. There are some techniques to check for the most popular viewed topics or contents or the latest topics available at your site to be displayed at the front page.

Try to use this advice if you wish to have a good site. I'm not a proffesional web designer, but I'm just started.

I always liked breadcrumbs..theyr'e helpful sometimes. And if a user doesn't like them, of course they don't have to use them. Just keep the standard links bar available.
