My laptop can't read the DVD+R disc. I don't know why. My hard drive says compact disc ReWritable. Is it because DVD discs don't work on laptop computers? Does it only work on desktop computers? If anyone knows anything about this please help. Please I need some answers. Help!!!

I keep getting the low virtual memory message. I changed my settings, but I really don't know what I'm doing.

Someone just installed windows 2000 on my computer this weekend. It actually says that I have 65,000 kb of RAM....can that be right? What should I change my virtual mem settings to so that I can stop getting the messages and so that I stop getting freezes?

Is it normail to have the following? :
CPU Temperature: 51 celsius / 52 celsius
CPU Fan Speed: 2115-2190
System Fan Speed: 1435-1472

I am still having power problems. I replaced my PS and it didn't work. I then replaced my modo and cpu and it still doesn't work. No power, no nothing. But, my backup APC is showing power and everything else that is plugged into the APC is working. Just not the computer. My laptop works off the APC. My cell phone charges up while plugged in. Everything else works. No power to the computer. I even plugged it in the wall socket and it still doesn't work. I'm thinking very seriously about building a completely new system. ??????????

when i run defrag c: -b, normally a blank command window pops up and it starts to defrag. it goes away ina minute or so. for me now, it just pops up for a split second, then goes away. i have also tried 3rd party boot defrags, but it wont work either.

does it have to do with xp services? cause my boot speed is getting progressively slower

I was using MagicDisc if that helps. I was shutting down and had a power outage, it was still on the logging off screen. When I try to turn on the computer it gets stuck after the Vista loading screen. It's just black no button presses or mouse clicks work. I don't have a Vista disc, I have the OEM (HP Pavilion Notebook dv9000). How can I fix this? or Can it be fixed? or is it bricked?

When I turn off my computer, my comp SCREEN power button is still lighted up but the one for my MONITOR is off..it doesn't light up or anything and this happened recently when i moved. but i think it used to light up. what do u think might be wrong with it?? what should i do?

I have a black screen and can't boot it up. I was told that I might have to reinstall the Windows XP . I don't have the disc that came with the computer, but I have another Windows XP install disc that came with my laptop. Can I use this disc or does it have to be the one that came with my PC?

Everytime when I turn off my computer, afterwards, the power button on my comp. lights up but the one on my comp monitor button doesnt light up after i turn off my comp but it used to. but its hooked up and that is why i can turn on my comp but does anyone know about this? and should i worry too much about it u think?

WHEN I USED TO UPLOAD PHOTOS TO MY COMPUTER FROM MY DIGITAL CAMERA ANY VIDEOS/MPEGS I CARRIED OVER TO A PHOTO FOLDER ON MY PC WOULD SHOW THE START OF THAT MPEG AS A THUMBNAIL.

NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THESE VIDEOS DONT SHOW THE START OF THE VIDEO AS A THUMBNAIL IT JUST SHOWS THE STANDARD WINDOWS MPEG SYMBOL WHICH IS SO ANNOYING.

IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY AND CAN HELP ME RETURN IT TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL.

I cannot afford to expirament and would like to get it right the 1st time - it seems the signal is very sensitive to a spot outside of the house and i need to bring it inside - i dont know who the signal is supplied by and it comes and goes whenever it wants
all the other signals require a password to connect - is there a universal password?

how many years? My only concern is with geting is that it's speed is 2.40GHZ so 3 years down the road will the requirment be a processor thats 3.0+ its only 100.00 more to get the one with the quad 6600 vs the AMD 6000. So If I did get a quad 6600 would it be future proof?
