I need some info from an xP drive, but it's current computer is broken. Could I install it as a slave in another xp computer, then move it back when the other computer is fixed?

Yes you can. Be sure to change the little jumper to slave and boot up to your heart's desire.

Yes.

Pay attention to jumper settings. The choices is either CABLE SELECT or MASTER/SLAVE.

If you change a jumper to reassign it from Master to Slave, be sure you know exactly how to change it back to MASTER when you reinstall.

That should work but there gotchas depending how you formatted the and partitioned the drive.

How dead is the first computer? If you boot with the original Windows Installation CD you should see a REPAIR choice.

Just switch the jumpers to slave, cable select may work too. Turn it on then do a search in your drives section to find it. .
