My laptop can't read the DVD+R disc. I don't know why. My hard drive says compact disc ReWritable. Is it because DVD discs don't work on laptop computers? Does it only work on desktop computers? If anyone knows anything about this please help. Please I need some answers. Help!!!

Great question and thank you for participating. You're on the right track of course, but there are some things to consider. When using my dvd burner, I always start by "formatting" the new disk to get it ready for the files. Once the files are copied to the new disk, you must then complete the application by "making the disk compatible for most machines." This is a simple "closing" that you'll find by right clicking on your dvd drive. On the menu you'll see "format" and "make compatible" or something along that line. If you fail to "finalize" it, you wont be able to read it on any computer. Hope this helps. Larry.

DVD+r is not a re-recordable disk it is a format that perhaps your DVD can't read .. try DVD-r .. if that works there's your problem ,, your asking the computer to read Russian and it only speaks Chinese .. then again maybe you just have a CD recorder player in your machine

It has nothing to do with laptop or deck top.

Do you know for sure the laptop can play DVD's?

Look on the door for the CD... for the DVD letters

Compact Disc rewritable would be CD-R/CD-RW compatible. CD-RW means that your computer can burn CD's.

Chances are, your drive is a CD-RW drive and not a DVD-R drive.

Maybe the drive doesn't support DVD+R media. Try using DVD-R media.
