My set up for now:

AMD Athalon XP 1800+
1.53 GHZ and 512 MB Ram.

OS: XP 64

I'll be upgrading the processor and the ram (which is not a problem at all and fairly cheap) so I do not need anyone to say I need a new PC. But for Video Cards I'm looking at at NVIDIA GeForce 8600 card. I'm wondering if there's anything better or just as good as it but for a better and/or matching price. This is mainly for the game Bioshock and for DV editing. Thank you.

I have another PC in the house that has no internet connection. I just wanted to ask if how could I update my anti-virus on that unit even without internet connection? Both of my PCs are using the same brand of anti-virus. Of course, the one with the Internet connection is always updated everyday. But what about this other without Internet connection? Is there a way to update there? If yes, what is the procedure and what are the files needed to copy from one pc (internet) to another (without internet)?

i'm about to design a web application that possibly will connect to different databases. these databases contains the data that i need. the problem is they have varying structures. how is it possible to extract the information that i need. is there a software that could help?
i have an idea though but i'm not sure if it's okay. I'll ask each database administrator the queries necessary in order to access the information that i need. is this a stupid idea? can you suggest an alternative?

I have the 6 pin PCI-E connector but the the card says 400+ watts but using a power supply calculator

Will a Geforce 8800 GTS work?

My guess is that the 8400 card is the best due to the higher model number (I know, it's obvious), but it can't hurt to be sure. I want to upgrade my computer from integrated graphics (completely useless!) to a decent graphics card that's not too expensive and won't overload my computer but suitable for casual gaming.

i have about a 6 month year dell inspiron E1505
well i at first was having trouble with vista so i was gunna go restore with the original disk then, i coundt acces my cd drive from anywhere or from my computer...so i went to chck dsk and repair and blah blah

and while i was done the battery charger stopped charging and would light up green for maybe a few minutes and go out and my laptop would die...

any ideas if this is a problem with the laptop or the charger?

I was trying to install photoshop elements on my mac and when I installed it, it told me to restart the computer, so I did and when it rebooted and I tried to open photoshop, it just told me to install it again. So I did and so on and so on. Why is it doing this? I got the mac today! I dont know what the problem is!

I have a ASUS p5k deluxe mobo with a intel Q6600 quad, a Philips IDE dvd drive, and one 750gb seagate SATA (no floppy drive). When BIOS tries to boot, it won't boot from the windows vista 64 disc (works on other computers) in my dvd drive but displays "reboot and select proper boot media or insert boot media in select boot device and press a key" and "invalid system disk" and "Primary slave drive ATAPI incompatible. I've tried everything (boot device order, DVD drive jumpers, switching memory, booting from winXP, ubuntu, and a used hard drive, using different dvd drive, resetting CMOS, upgrading BIOS, booting with nothing except the dvd drive connected) the computer shows no sign of recognizing anything within the DVD drive but i'm thinking of copying windows setup into 4gb flash drive. Is this possible? Also, the HDD cable connection for the dvd drive (labeled host interface) has the #s 39,40 on the left and 1,2 on the right. i've an 80-pin cable; do i need a 40-pin? Please help!!!!

I am not really sure what to do. The guy that worked on my computer says that the power supply can't be fixed (it is too old). The replacement one is better he says. Right now the replacement one is working and not giving me any problems. He has had the other computer for almost two weeks now. I have tried repeatedly to get mine back, but he won't answer the phone, return my calls or anything. I am going to save for a new one, but can't afford one right now. I don't have a model number for mine so I can't check it out to see if he is lying or not about the power supply and if it is too old. Should I just keep this one or get mine back? My boyfriend is planning on going to his house about my computer. He has a bad temper and I am afraid something might happen.

Just wondering-are both the computers old and about the same anyway.

This stinks, and Im sure there have been a number of questions like this. I got this desknote no name laptop from a freind of my ex, I dont have any windows disks or resotre disks or anything.

i updated pc tools antivirus and a bad file kept crashing my computer, so the folks at pctools.com told me to remove the program alltogether. so I did. and now when i turn on my computer it goes through the memory check and the select operating system screens but after that it just goes black. wen i select safe mode i get a huge list of files, but nothing else happens, it just shuts off. and any other option doesnt do anything.

i really need immediate help, and not any simpleton stuff as ive most likely tried it. i am very broke and cant afford to buy a disk or get it fixed otherwise id save myself the trouble of trying to figure this out.

please please please please help me! im begging you. my laptop is my main resource for EVERYTHING and i need it to work.

Yo- alright theres this new game coming out sept. 18 called World in Conflict and right now i have the demo. the game is pretty sweet with awsome explosions and all that. but i have to put my graphics on low to enjoy the game with good fps but with it on high its super clear but with very low fps. i have an ATI RADEON 9550 256 MB AGP video card and its served me well since last november but now its time that i moved on. i want to now whats a good graphics card that can play this game and most of the new games with high detail and no lags or low fps? if its Ati then that would be awsome but im open to any card with the best graphic clearity.

I have a Geforce FX5200 and it doesnt seem to play any games even though my system meets requirements (example Battlefield 2) it wont even run on lowest settings.
I have 512mb ram running no Vista and all drivers (i think) and DirectX installed.
