I have a Geforce FX5200 and it doesnt seem to play any games even though my system meets requirements (example Battlefield 2) it wont even run on lowest settings.
I have 512mb ram running no Vista and all drivers (i think) and DirectX installed.

Are my settings wrong or what should i do?

the 512 RAM is your problem - BF2 takes up a lot of memory anyway, and 512 is the minimum for operating Vista (taking about 400MB of that just to load the desktop). Try upgrading the Ram. Not much more you can do.

The back of the box minimum requirements are probably under XP? Even though its capable of running vista you'll probably see under the Recommended setup that at least 1GB is desired. The minum 512MB would only really work under XP, because XP takes up a much smaller footprint of memory.

If you still want to scrape at the walls though, this site says to Run BF2.exe as Administrator. They also say they had some problems with punkbuster under vista but they arent very specific.

Open task manager and check in performance if you really have plenty of available RAM. You may have 512mb there but a lot of your processes might be using up RAM. Try disabling your startup processes in msconfig.

Also check your graphics card. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, OK. Check your DirectX version at lower part. Select display tab. Check you device and driver. Check if DirectX features are enabled, then test Direct 3D.

If DirectX 9.0 is fully supported, you should be able to run the game at low settings, but still slow on that card.

Whats your CPU?(the celeron is significantly slower than any Pentium 4 no matter how high its clocked 1/4 the cache 2 way vs 8 way on the P4)
The FX5200 is the slowest DX9 card available(excluding integrated intels)(its slower than the geforce4 MX440)
Like the poster above also you really need 1gb if you use vista.
