I need a program that will simply tell me which TCP and UDP ports are open on my computer. One time use, any suggestions? Preferably something available on download.com.

I spent all of yesterday typing up work on Mircosoft Word 2007, the autosave feature was on so i stupidly did not manually save my work all day. I put my pc in hibernation mode so i could get something to eat and when i got back i had troubles trying to turn the pc back on which resulted in me restarting my pc.
When i opened Microsoft Word i discovered my work had not been auto saved meaning i'd lost all off my work done that day. I went on to the microsoft help page, using information there i manage to track the location of my autosaved work, it was an ASD. file, only thing is Word will not let me open the ASD file as it says it is uncompatible. any ideas??????

Help would be much appreciated!

It is happening for a couple of days only. Whenever, I click on a Word file for the purpose of opening it, it takes a great deal of time to open. Similarly, if I right click on an icon to select a function e.g. copy, delete, zipping etc, it takes so much time to show the list for a function to be selected from there.

Is it happening because I am having both Spyware Doctor and AVG on my system running?

Is it due to the reason that some essential program or other files were accidentally deleted?

I have a menu in xml file but I can´t display in googlepage, I try with XMLhttpRequest (Ajax) without result, with DOM parser only in IE but in Mozilla or firefox I can´t display anything, The debugger method say "Don't have permission to access ....... xml file". Recently friends are telling me that the emails I send them are getting lost in their junk or bulk folders. I am sending out emails from Outlook 2003 across internal POP/SMTP server - and those recieving the emails are both internal office emails and external company STMP or even yahoo. What can I check in my Outlook settings to ensure emails arrive in their Inbox? My pysche can only handle so much ignoration.

I'm trying to share a folder where the root of that folder will be read-only but the subdirectories need to be read/write access. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the process for doing this on any Windows 2K/XP/Server 03 installation. Anyone done anything like this before. Or is it impossible.

i am currently running a nvidia 7600gt on a pentium 4,1gb ram,epox motherboard with a 300watt p.s.u
howvever after enquiring with nvidia customer care,they advised me to increase my power supply,i knew the p.s.u was a bit on the low side,and i have managed to get my hands on a ctk 400watt psu
my question is "will changing the p.s.u affect the operating system or bios in any way",
the reason for the bigger psu is some of my games were stuttering using the smaller 300watt p.s.u so i presume the 7600gt was being starved of power so will the 400watt psu solve this problem!

When my daughter was born i videoed her straight after and for 1st few years of her life i gave this to a friend to edit and put on dvd for me which he did now i discover it's on you tube when it was intended for myself and family only and her mother would never allowed it to be put on the net it and i also think he's copyrighted it what can i do if anything?

The school I'm going to requires students to have laptops, so I have to get one before school starts. Our school provides maintanence and stuff for three computers : -

Acer TravelMate 2484WXMi
Fujitsu Amilo Pro V3505
Fujitsu Lifebook T4215

I am also considering an Apple Macbook, and I want your opinions and / or advice on which one to choose. I am a PC user btw.

We can order from school (but I won't be doing that), and the school-ordered computers come with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Access and Publisher from Microsoft Office 2003, so if I'm getting Mac, I'll have to get them too, and I heard it's much more expensive so the MacBook will need lots of considering.

I would also like to know if you guys have any good recommendations as well. It would be the best if the computers are from Acer / Fujitsu because the IT department would most probably know how to fix the brand of computers, in general.

Your advice is very much appreciated. :)

I have three computers in my home network, one PC and two Compaq Laptops.

Now both the laptops are 64bit and the PC is 32 bit, Im not sure whether this will make a difference to them sharing, as one laptop works fine on the network.

I have two printers attached to the main pc, which is hardwired to the Netgear wireless router, the two laptops are wireless.

I have ran the network setup wizard several times now on each computer, using my USB stick as the setup disc that it creates. I have tried many different settings, but the one that would seem to be most appropriate is the "This computer connects directly to the internet, and other computers on the network also connect directly through a gateway or hub" option.

I have also turned on printer and file sharing on each computer.

Sadly tho the main pc and laptop one dont seem to allow access to each other, while laptop 2 and main pc can see each others shared files and printers.

Each user account is set up as the administrator. HELP?

Due to the lack of characters my initial question probably doesn't cover the whole question i am asking.

Basically i am considering purchasing my own hosting package and with the package i am considering i can have up to 20 subdomains. If i was to let other people use a subdomain would they be able to have their own log in details or would all hosting, and editting and such, for that subdomain still be done on (or thro) the main domain?

Sorry for the lack of technical jargon here- i'm pretty useless at tech stuff so please answer in the same manner =D
