I have an assembled desktop, with an intel pentium D processor and an intel D945Gnt motherboard. I got my motherboard replaced same days ago... it had an unusual problem so Intel obliged and replaced it in a week. So when I got it back, I reintegrated the whole system, and now there's a new problem:
When I press the power button, the CPU fan and smps fan starting to rotate, the led's in the keyboard light up... and just after a 2-3 seconds everything shuts down! The smps fan switches off, even though the led on the motherboard is on... the monitor shows no output for those 3 seconds.
Well, i have checked the smps and RAM on another comp, they r working fine... so where does the problem lie? motherboard or processor?? or something else? .. i even checked for short circuiting by running it without the chassis....

Ive had a 16inch hanns g monitor now for a month and last night i was doing a virus scan and went to sleep,when i woke up my screen did not turn on.I tried differnet outlets,cords and still nothing not even a flash.Im using my old monitor now and it works fine so it cant be the tower.Help,i dont want this screen to go to ****,we spent alot of money on it.

wanting to know how to share my dsl internet connection between my 2 computers....i'm still confused how to do this....if i get a router, do i need to get adapters too? what do i do with the dsl box? the more i read about this the more confused i get!! is there a website for dummies on this subject??

I have always wanted to change the discs and pads on my peugeot because they are now at the stage where they are worn and need replaced. I normally take it to the garage but the cheapest quote that i can get for changing them is £400 supplied and fitted where as i can get the parts for only £120. I can normally do this kind of stuff without much hassle but i like to backup of instructions incase it goes wrong. Are there any mechanics out there who can give me step by step on how to do this or point me in the direction of a rescource which can help me. How easy would you say it was 10 being hardest 1 the easiest, All help much appreciated.

Hiya,

In the area that I am moving both Cable & DSL are available...does anyone know if the way the speeds are represented are similar? Ie: 5Mbps x 500Kbs

Cable is supposedly faster, I thought...but the fastest cable offered appears to have a slower speed listed than the higher DSL range, are they considere the same in how there presented or is cable always just faster on a whole?

Very confused about this...any help would be appreciated.

By the way, I'm moving to Albuquerque and the companies that seem to be available are Cable One and Qwest.

Digital Media Converter 2.7 works well, but is $39.
AVI Recomp is free, but does not do batch processing.

how can i retreive files from my dvd-rw when it wont appear but the total size of the CD is just about the files that i saved before? its not actually gone but it wont come out and i need the files... HELP!

oh and i think it happened bcause i canceled the browsing process when it was still reading.. then i tried all sorts of stuff but only a part would come out!:(
but when i left it for a fewdays it came back but then now its not working, not everything is coming out... all files are pictures and i dont have a back up copy for it.. so i need help.

I just received a 22" monitor and it came with a DVI-D cable and a VGA cable. Originally I plugged in just the VGA but out of curiosity I checked my graphics card and it supports a DVI-D connection.
So, I unplugged the VGA and plugged in the DVI-D cable.
I'm not sure if there is supposed to be a difference visually.
I also don't know if you are supposed to have both plugged in together or just the DVI-D by itself.

Hey I believe my LCD monitor's backlight burnt out. This monitor also comes with a TV tuner built-in. However, when using the TV, the screen is bright, but when I use it for computing, it is very dim. I'm assuming the backlight burnt out and I need a replacement? And if so, how much would labor and parts cost?

Some of the pictures I have saved in my computer are gone.
I don't know if this is just a co-incidence or not, but I've been editing a picture on this site

and have had problems saving the picture.
Later, I was altering a picture with MS Paint and when I saved that picture, a window opened up and said that a"sharing violation" had occurred while accessing that file.
What's a "Sharing violation?" (This has never happened to me before) But twice when I tried to save the picture A window opened up saying "moving files" and that's when many of my pictures gone missing (I can't find them.) The scary part is that I'm sure I clicked "save" when I selected a file to save it into.
The next day (at the time of writing) when I turned my computer on, my the picture I use as my screensaver is gone. (That's not one of the pictures which went missing either.)
I can't figure out what happened, maybe it's something from the site I mentioned.

I just got this old computer from my uncle and i believe it's 6-8 year olds.... i don't know what kind of motherboard it has but as right now, it is supporting Pentium 4 cpu with 1.60GHz, and it has 256MB of RAM (still have 3 more slot to put in)... How do i check if this computer can support a stronger cpu, ram, or video card? I wanna put maybe a 3.0GHz, and maybe 1gb ram, and 256mb video card.

Well My web cam Model Number was DVC-V6 and I find it really didicult to use it and I also asked many person who well web cam at my local place. I just got my brand new macbook today through UPS, from American Musical. It works great. The only problem I have with it is that in the upper left corner, there's a small spot (about the size of a nickle or so) that, when the screen or laptop is moved, it ripples like water (seeing that the screen is liquid). It doesn't distort the color, and doesn't seem to be causing any major problems. It's just really annoying. Does anyone have any advice as to what this is/what to do? Thanks for your help!
