I just got my brand new macbook today through UPS, from American Musical. It works great. The only problem I have with it is that in the upper left corner, there's a small spot (about the size of a nickle or so) that, when the screen or laptop is moved, it ripples like water (seeing that the screen is liquid). It doesn't distort the color, and doesn't seem to be causing any major problems. It's just really annoying. Does anyone have any advice as to what this is/what to do? Thanks for your help!

So don't keep moving the screen.

LCDs are very dependent upon the constant thickness of the LCD material, and the constant pressure it is under. If you press on the screen or flex it then the gap and the pressure changes and you see ripples as you squeeze and sheer the liquid crystal and alter it's polarization characteristics.

If this is happening when you open or close the lid, then ignore it. If it is happening when you shake the Macbook, then don't shake your computer when it is on, you will trash the hard drive.

If it is happening with slight movements or just as you sit at a table and use the computer, then maybe Apple over tightened or under tightened something and it is causing abnormal pressure at that point making it oversensitive. You can call Apple about a replacement, but it may well be working as designed.

It sounds like the LCD screen is leaking. It probably got damaged during shipping. Take it up to an Apple store. I dropped mine and the screen stop working. They replaced it with a better laptop within 10 minutes. They have awesome warranty!

First contact American Musical, if they won't replace it then call or bring it in to Apple. It's under warranty.

Try calling Apple and see if that is normal. My next suggestion is try calling American Musical and see if they can replace it.
