Some of the pictures I have saved in my computer are gone.
I don't know if this is just a co-incidence or not, but I've been editing a picture on this site
http://pixer.us/
and have had problems saving the picture.
Later, I was altering a picture with MS Paint and when I saved that picture, a window opened up and said that a"sharing violation" had occurred while accessing that file.
What's a "Sharing violation?" (This has never happened to me before) But twice when I tried to save the picture A window opened up saying "moving files" and that's when many of my pictures gone missing (I can't find them.) The scary part is that I'm sure I clicked "save" when I selected a file to save it into.
The next day (at the time of writing) when I turned my computer on, my the picture I use as my screensaver is gone. (That's not one of the pictures which went missing either.)
I can't figure out what happened, maybe it's something from the site I mentioned.

Usually a sharing violation occurs when you try to open something up that is already in use by another program. I remember it happening more often in 95 and 98 than in XP (haven't fooled around with Vista long enough to know if it is an issue there or not).

By the sounds of it, it could possibly be some type of computer virus or trojan on your system. When stuff starts moving around on its own without you telling it to do so, that should raise a red flag that there is probably some type of program or script running that is telling it to do that. Hopefully you have anti-virus installed, but make sure you have the latest update before running a scan.

To recover your pictures, you can use search and select "pictures" or just do a general search under all files for *.gif, *.jpg, *.jpeg, and so on. They probably just got thrown out of the My Pictures folder into some weird spot on your hard drive.

You either have a virus or you have a problem with your files. Your best bet is to open the start menu and click search type in the name of the file/picture and it will tell you if it is located on your computer.

Not very specific but then this is quite general hardware failure fault only older Windows up to 9x can have software screwup like this so if the machine is running XP, 2000 or something newer this gotta be indicative of a total hardware failure on the horizon. Nevertheless, the vivid description of beeping noise nailed it as hardware failure not a total fatality yet, enjoy parental flogging, if you can't dodge it. :(

You probably have a virus. I would recommend for you to get a Apple Computer. They are extremely fast and they dont have 114,000 viruses like Windows. Plus you will get enhanced security controls and an awesome image editor, video editor, and DVD burning program. They work a lot better. Plus they are very easy to use! Get a Mac you will never switch back!
