Hiya,

In the area that I am moving both Cable & DSL are available...does anyone know if the way the speeds are represented are similar? Ie: 5Mbps x 500Kbs

Cable is supposedly faster, I thought...but the fastest cable offered appears to have a slower speed listed than the higher DSL range, are they considere the same in how there presented or is cable always just faster on a whole?

Very confused about this...any help would be appreciated.

By the way, I'm moving to Albuquerque and the companies that seem to be available are Cable One and Qwest.

Thanks again. ^_^.

DSL2 is faster than CABLE, CABLE is faster than the normal DSL.

The Cable rated speed is the maximum possible in an "ideal world".... which means if you are close to your isps switch and also if there are other people in the neighborhood using cable internet/tv... you guys will be sharing the bandwidth which will make it slow down.

Go with DSL. Cable bandwidth is dependent upon how many users are "using" it. DSL on the other hand is dedicated, meaning your speed will not drop because 5000 other people are downloading a movie to watch. The price of DSL has also dropped considerably, making it the better choice in my opinion. Best of luck with whichever you decide.
