Get Utorrent To Download Faster

2016-12-12 08:28:00 · answer #2 · answered by bacca 4 · 0 0

If you see a little green check mark at the bottom of uTorrent then installing a different client wont help you at all.

Not all torrents will download at your full speed. Its very dependent on how fast the others in the swarm can send to you. This could be limited by problems at your end, problems at their end or just plain bandwidth capacity.

You may also be a victim of an ISP that throttles/shapes certain traffic. In my case my ISP is throttling P2P and encrypted traffic. This has dropped my usual 300-500kB/s torrent speeds down to a max of 100kB/s.

Good luck.

What type of connection do you have? A typical 56k modem only gets about 7kb/s at the very best of times! You are at the mercy of the server speed and the number of users on the server handling the torrent traffic. Have you assigned the ports used by your torrent software on your firewall (if you have one) properly? Remember, the torrent server acts on a first come first served basis, handles only ONE user at any given point in time, and the slower the server and the more users sharing the wire at any given time, the slower the overall traffic for EVERYONE. You have absolutely NO control over these variables at the server level. If you are getting 10kb/s, it is likely every other person on the same server is as well, provided you have your software and firewall properly configured, that is, so your end is NOT the bottleneck.

Uninstall all uTorrent clients from your machine, install flashget. Then download the .torrent file and open it with flashget. You can easily configure flashget for the maximum possible speed(Though flashget itself has a very good download speed).

OK, Happy Downloading, ;-)

You need to open another port. I am using Utorrent, So the following is based on that. (And assuming you are running Windows SP2 (Servicepack2)).to check which version you have go START,then right click 'My computer' ,then PROPERTIES. It tells you which version in the GENERAL tab.

Firstly Disable your Windows firewall (It's Crap) and download ZoneAlarm firwall.(Torrent friendly Firewall)

On your desktop, got to START, then CONTROL PANEL, then SECURITY CENTRE, then WINDOWS FIREWALL,then EXCEPTIONS tab (also make sure the Utorrent box is ticked) , then click on ADD PORT.

In the name section type 'TORRENT'
In the Port number section type in 28766
Make sure the TCP box is ticked.
Then OK.

Once you have done that open up UTorrent program.
Go to Preferences ( It's the cog icon on the toolbar)
On the left side of the new page click on CONNECTION.
In the 'Global bandwidth Limiting Upload' box - Change the number to 55.
In the 'Global download' box - Change the number to 250.
------------------------------...

On the left side of the page click ot BITTORRENT.
In the ' global maximum number of connections' box - change it to 750.
In the 'global maximum number of connected peers per torrent' box - change to 100.
finally In the 'Number of upload slots per torrent' box - change this to 8.

This will speed up your Torrent Downloads.

go to options, preferences, download i think.. on the bottom change the max upload rate to like 5or 10 kb. Change the download to 0(unlimited)... change the port to 6001. I'm not sure why , but someoen told me that if you change the port to 6001 something happens (either that or its specific to your router).
