I've recently pusrchased HP presario V325AU laptop and have got a land-line connection at my house. what should i do to connect to internet?

Go to Start My Network Places, and right click, Properties.
the top option is to set up Create a New Connection, select it and it will guide ytou through everything you need for a dial up, including logi and password, local phone numbers, etc.

for Broad band connections.,
Probably your laptop has an ethernet card .
Singtel may be providing this service. who will give the connection ADSL and the modem. required. For dialup, as suggested here you may have to buy an external unit.

get an external usb dialup 56k modem with driver cd.
