ur absolutely on the right track i give u thumbs up acer is the best feature packed cheap laptop currently available toshiba is a bit cotsly as well as hp
no way is acer degraded with hp or toshiba or compaq , or what so ever many people say that acer uses low |cheap parts in order to reduce the cost - it is not the real fact
acers idea is to sell more laptops and make computing for evry strata of scoiety a possibilty
and they give at a low price
so that they also dont run under loss as well s buyers are made advantage the same concept is been followed by the dell or compaq also
all these 3 are good and no was worser than the rest

As in cars, there are some lemons in some brands but most of the ones with problems tend to be those built on price. I had a technician guy who works for a living repairing laptops and most that go through his hands are ACER. The best thing to do is to buy extra warranty in case things go wrong with the laptop past 12 months. You should buy at least 3 years warranty for your laptop. This is because motherboard replacement or screen repairs are very expensive. If an ACER is close in price with a Toshiba, better off with the latter because it is widely known as a reliable brand as in a TOYOTA (cars).

I've had an Acer Aspire for almost a year and it's been really great. It's reasonably priced and it runs great also.
My friend, who works at a computer store, said that Acer is a great brand.
Another friend of mine recently bought an Acer as well, and she has been satisfied.
So, to answer your question, Acer is not bad.

If its at a good price then get it. Acers use the same processors and motherboards and ram as the other brands. THey are from Europe. They have the same features but tend to be lower price.

I hope not since I have one. All computers have good points and bad points. Acer's emPowering software suite is a bit naff but the computers themselves are fine.

Don't worry about tech snobs. I got a friend who has an Acer laptop, and it works great.

Acer is excellent. Your friends don't have one, so they can't really tell you it is no good.
