I know it is device of some kind that is beneficial to the the computer in blocking viruses. However, I am curious and want to learn more about this.

I was searching through the main page of jkrowling.com this morning and minimized the website for a few minutes to check my mail. I could hear all of the sound effects from her site ( the dog barking, the doorbell, radio, etc) but then I heard a completely different noise. I quickly clicked on the minimized site and it sounded like wind was blowing and then things started to blow away like the gum wrappers. Then this strange looking black creature with wings flew across the page. It knocked over her cup with the 4 pens in it. Does anyone know what it is??
And also... since I've been typing this... her cell phone rang. So i answered and it just said,"hello?.... hello?... is anyone there?"
It was a woman's voice. So that was strange. I haven't been to the site in a long while. So this has most likely happened to others as well. What do you think?

i have a laptop that has windows xp, and a desktop that has windows vista premium, my laptop has internet and my desktop does not. is there any possible way i could connect both of the computer's using a ethernet cable. and if yes could u please explain how, and if no could you please tell me what i should get. thankyou.

Morons at Zalman gave me a badly warped contact plate (or whatever the plate on a heatsink/fan that connects to the CPU is called). It was so warped, it only contacted the CPU on the outer edges. After removing it, I noticed that along the edges of the CPU where the heatsink contacted, there was shiny areas, almost as though the great pressure placed in those small areas damaged the matte finish of the processor. Could this happen? Should I buy another CPU (I can't even get my heatsink/fan RMA'd, unlikely I'll get a new processor out of the assholes).

k i just got a new videocard 2 weeks ago ( xfx 7950 gt agp8x) and a few days ago when i play a game for example nfs carbon i cant play it for more than couple of minutes or even seconds because the monitor goes of and sais power saving mode so than i have to restart the computer because the black screen wont go away is it beause the video card is bad or what i have a 485w psu with 34A on the 12 rail so that should be enough to run that video card.i went to control pannel and i put everithing to never on the power things but it dinfnt do anything. any help is going to be appreciated .thx

I know you can't use the align tag when using strict but was wondering how do i align images in this format. I am designing a simple webpage with paragraphs but want images on the left and right of the paragraphs. All information would be great. I play this game called second life and up until the other day it was working fine. Suddenly it stopped working, i emailed the company nd they said that my video driver doesnt support it. When i tried downloading the software they recommend, it gets to the install wizard thing and says that the software i currently have on my laptop is not the right configuration then closes on me. Am i going to have to buy a new video card?? Do they cost alot?? Right now im running an Intel video processor and need to change it to either nVidia GeForce 2, GeForce 4mx, or better or ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better.
Any help would be great.

I am usinng ASUS RX3041 4 ports router and a Hub with 8 ports? I want to connect ten computers and make a network using these specified devices? I want answers regarding installation connection from the routers and since it is only limited to 4 ports I will be needing an extension in terms of a switch hub. Can I connect a router with another router in case this won't work?
