Morons at Zalman gave me a badly warped contact plate (or whatever the plate on a heatsink/fan that connects to the CPU is called). It was so warped, it only contacted the CPU on the outer edges. After removing it, I noticed that along the edges of the CPU where the heatsink contacted, there was shiny areas, almost as though the great pressure placed in those small areas damaged the matte finish of the processor. Could this happen? Should I buy another CPU (I can't even get my heatsink/fan RMA'd, unlikely I'll get a new processor out of the assholes).

It's so surprising to me that Zalman is still reputable. This issue seems to be common-place and pc builders (I'm guessing 95% of their customers) are pretty well-informed group.
