First, you did plug a power cable into the back of the adapter card?

I doubt that the card pulls much power from the 12V rail. I would suspect that it is using the 5V rail of the connector rather than stepping down from 12V. So check what capacity you have left on the 5V bus that you are connecting to.

Also, some power supplies have multiple 5V and/or 12V rails. Make sure you are using one that is not already heavily loaded.

Or it might just be a bad card.

Theres a couple things that could be wrong. First, does your graphics card need its own power? It might need a molex or a PCI-E power. Some of the cards these days draw more power than the PCI slot can give. Second, is the card just badly placed and is overheating quickly. It may have a damaged fan and therefore has no cooling and has to shut down. Check those two problems first as they are the most common. Also, you may want to go to the manufacturer's website and get the newest drivers if you dont already have them, just to be safe.

Also, you may want to upgrade system RAM because it uses a portion of that as well.

Are you having issues with running your computer normally? Or is it because of this game? If it is because of this game, you do not have enough resources to play this game, even though you purchased a new video card.

Check your game settings and set the video settings on the game to the lowest possible and see if that corrects it. If you are ok with normal computer operations, then you can definately rule out any issue with the video card.

Good Luck

Right click on your desktop --->properties----->screensaver-----> and click the power tab and check to see you dont have power save mode on....that could be it....

or maybe your video card just doesn't have the proper requirements to meet your games needs.
