to connect 2 computers,
1) use a cat5 crossover cable and connect to the ethernet port on each computer.
2) use a regular cat5 ethernet cable on each computer, and put a hub or a router between them. Use a router to connect to the internet, but a hub is fine for just the computers.
3) Use either a serial (rs232) cable or a parallel cable and cone ct the computers either by the com ports, or the printer ports and use a communication program such as lap-link to transfer files. Windows also has the option to directly connect using these cables.

Well, it's called a router. Or you can get a wireless router from Best Buy for i think 80 bucks or something of that sort. I would get wireless, but if you cant' then you can do what i have currently...
I have 2 comps, but i have i think up to 4 jacks, meaning 4 connecters if i had other computers. it's called a ROUTER (plain and simple..it should not say wireless infront or odd sayings). And yes, i put in the ethernet cord into one of the jacks and you can connect the two computers. I'm sorry, i can't tell you how to do it but if you go to Best Buy they can give you the gist of it. If you're all out desperate go to Geek Squad. Expensive, $149, but they'll show you how to do it for next time and answer any other questions about the comptuer you have.

Greetings, I will try to answer you, firs you should be able to do so through a “Cross-over” cable, it is a CAT5 cable with “RJ45” connectors, each end has a different color combination.
After hooking the terminals up, go to your network connection and make your Internet connection able to connect other computers, the vista should detect the Internet easily.
Good Luck

You need a crossover cable. But you best bet is to buy a router and connect those with normal ethernet cables to the router creating a network.

you need a special cable to do that. I would just invest in a cheap router for your modem. Splitting your internet connection would make it a little easier for you.
if money is an issue check this DLink one out. Straightforward easy and hardly no programs to configure.
