I buy a new computer every three years and spend about $4,000 each time. I just bought a Dell XPS 720 and I don't know what to do with my old computer. It runs a Pentium 4 3.4GHz and has 2.00 GB of RAM. Runs Windows XP Professional and everything works great on it. Is there anything I can use this for still? Or should I just toss it? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I am ripping music on my windows media player i would like to know the best bit rate to use because i`m going to make mp3`s from them.I want to know the best for quality sound but does`nt take too much space up but will sound like quality.I`ll be playing the mp3`s on big sound systems so i want it to sound clear. Also is it possible to have quality sound on the disc without having to use the highest bit rate what about 192kbps or 256kbps and one more question how many songs could i get on the mp3 cd if i use one of these bit rates. Please answer fully so i would have a good idea. thanks.

Every day I see notification coming up telling me that latest msn updates are ready to be installed into my p/c. I had my p/c set up by mistake to have all these updates installed automatically, and almost EVERY day these updates were installed-without my knowledge-into my p/c, and I was being interrupted to have to restart ny p/c,-no matter what I was doing. Until finaly I figured out how to "delete' these auto-updates, and have them-msn- first get my approval to install these updates, and stop them walking boldly in & out of my p/c at will like some ADMIRAL. So the question is 'Does an average home used p/c need all those updates, or not?'...I noticed that after each auto-update, my p/c was working slower and more "torturous"...

I am searching for ways to connect my laptop to the internet and my current network is through an ethernet router. When I try to connect my laptop to it the ethernet cable is slightly too large. The laptop comes with packed in wireless which is of no use to me and an as of yet unidentified port. I would like help in identifing it. The symbol next to the port is a line with 3 boxes below it and 2 above it. I am starting to feel like an idiot now and I may have even been wrong about the size.

We have dsl and a linksys wireless router.. so me and my brother can both be on the internet..
earlier today i shut off the modem and kept the router on
and well now the internet is working fine for me < im going straight from the router , not using wireless > but my brother cant pick up the signal.
I have everything plugged in right and all the lights that should be on are on the modem and the router...

this is how i have it hooked up and have always had it hooked up
the phone line goes to the modem. then an ethernet cable goes from the modem into the router , then an ethernet cable goes from the router into my computer and it works fine but my bro cant pick up the signal
any suggestions?

My motherboard is a Asus m2n-sli deluxe. It said in the manual that I must plug the heatsink/fan into the CPU fan recepticle for system monitoring. The manual said that a 3 pin fan is backward compatible. Does that mean that I plug it in to the recepticle, allowing one pin on the mobo to stick out beside the heatsink/fan plug and wires? So, should I go ahead and plug it into the the CPU fan recepticle in the only way that it can?
