I got a new laptop a two days ago that has a wireless card already installed in it. Now, because my parents are cheap and my neighbors are nice, the neighbors are allowing me to use their network for an hour a day; the only condition is that I have to call them first to make sure they aren't doing anything important.
We worked out this agreement before I got the laptop. However, there are a lot of trees between our houses, and I can't recieve a signal. I have trouble-shooted and double-checked everything that can be checked, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's not a mechanial problem and there's just too much interference.
Is there anything I can buy that could possibly boost the range of my computer? Thank you for any help.

i have 2 hard drives, a 40gb master (which crashed and had xp on it) and a 160gb slave (working fine, used for extra storage)... the 40gb is no longer working along with my os of course, and windows is no longer booting up. My question is, when installing a fresh copy of xp, can i just use the current working 160gb to install to? or should i replace the 40gb with a new hd and add the OS to that? would the 160gb need to be re-formatted if used?

Every time i open an internet window i get this " C: \Windows\ System32 \sysinfo.exe " trying to access the internet. i choose to block access to internet for that file. my hard drive space is also decreasing slowly and my pc is becoming slower at times as well. i am running on vista.
i have:
Dell Inspiron E1505
2 Gb ram
2.0 GHz doul core
80 Gb Hdd

i run Kaspersky Antivirus and it has not deteced the worm and i have updated it and it has still not discovered the worm. what can i do to get ride of the worm and speed up my pc again. i also use ccleaner on my pc.

I have Windows ME right now (i know it sucks.. lol) BUT i am going to get Windows XP and i was wondering if i installed XP if i would still have my songs on my computer (i have over 500 songs)... someone i know told me i would still have them if i installed XP and someone told me i wouldnt... so does anyone know if i would still have my songs on my computer if i installed XP??? i was wondering if i could run the 1950 pro. I have a 420 watt ps with one 18A 12v rail. I have 1 gb of ddr 400 ram, a intel 3.2 p4 ht, 160 gb sata 1.5 hdd and 8 box fans. The fans can be taken out if needed. If anymore info is needed just ask. Thanks for ur comments

My club is too cheap to get DSL and is using dial up and just got a computer running Vista. There are a couple of user at the club who need to be able just to run a program that does a file transfer. The problem is that I haven't been able to get the dial up connection to fire with anything besides Firefox or IE. How do I make Vista do the dialup when I run one of the file transfer programs. I've tried ping, nslookup, etc. I suppose that I could make it dial by running IE and putting in a delay, but that is QUITE inelegant. Can you do better?
