i was wondering if i could run the 1950 pro. I have a 420 watt ps with one 18A 12v rail. I have 1 gb of ddr 400 ram, a intel 3.2 p4 ht, 160 gb sata 1.5 hdd and 8 box fans. The fans can be taken out if needed. If anymore info is needed just ask. Thanks for ur comments

Hey man I was thinking of doing the same upgrade. ATI has said that they recommend 30A on the 12volt rail. Researching a couple of forums (Tom's Hardware, Sapphire tech forum) it appears that 30A may be an overestimate however the card would probalby at least need 28A. Some newer powersupplies have dual rails. This means that one rail will have like 18A and the other 18 or 17A. The card could run if the video card can dip into the other rail. Right now I'm just looking for a power supply with 28A or more on the 12Volt rail. Since my system (and yours since it's an AGP) are aging I would assume this is one of the last upgrades that you'd do. Unless you want the PSU to be used on your next comp. I do not want to spend too much on a power supply either but do not spend too little. Cheap PSU are made of cheap parts and will either not have enought A on the 12v rail or will work for a while and just give out. If I find any more info I'll let you know. Good luck with your PSU search.

well, you can run it with 420 watt psu, but it's nearly the limit, and you maybe feel your system become unstable, so i suggest you upgrade to at least 500 watt pure power.
