This is a very good question, actually.

I have found that my auctions run best if they end on a Sunday at like 4pm EST. I never list for less than 5 days. I usually list for 7. This works for weekend Ebayers who do their purchases during their downtime. Plus I think that most shoppers are loosened up on the weekends and therefore are more inclined to spend more $$.

My boyfriend listed a laptop once and intentionally listed it for it to end on a Wednesday afternoon, believing that people who only have computer access at work will browse and bid during work hours. His item didn't sell.

Based on these experiences, I believe in the 7 day auction ending on the weekend. 10 days is too long and people are naturally impatient.

Good luck selling.

Always do a buy it now with any auction. People don't want to wait sometimes. I sell a lot of my auction stuff with BIN. Always do 7 days and VARY the days so you always have something moving up in the queue (search results. They list the ones ending soonest first, etc) Be aware ebay is getting ready to tweak search results and show favoritism to the powersellers. Get on the discussion boards of ebay and read up! Things are about to change drastically.

When ending on a sunday night, allow time for people to get home from church, but before they'd sack out. Allow for time differences. Since Sunday has so much competition, I do a few there and space them out all week long. I sell on Monday mornings, I sell on Tuesdays during lunch hours, etc. All have sold. And even had a 3 in the morning sale. NEVER LIST DURING A SALES PROMOTION, you're throwing away your money as the market is flooded.
I only have 6 things in my ebay store because two sold in the last week- and I only had two on auction. So must be doing something right, lol! I was TRYING to take a break.

Also, consider getting a personal website. Ebay fees are going to just go up and up- with more glitches! For two weeks or more, sellers couldn't use the listing tool and add pictures to the gallery. GEESH.

Never let it end on weekends - Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. This Especially in summer times and on national holidays . People are most likely out either partying, socials or enjoying their leisure time at the beach or wherever. In winter - this what I just said may not quite apply.

As to time, never when everybody is asleep....... because nobody will be doing the last minute before deadline bidding which drives up the price.

To let them end during working hours gives fewer results since most do not have computer access at work for that kind of private business.

I have done a lot of bidding and selling on eBay....... As for the US and Canada - you should also consider the time zones. Stay in the middle of them.

As to time duration - 7 or 10 days works best.

it's best to do 7 day auction because more people will be able to see you product. End your auction when you know people are awake and not at work, more people will be trying to win your product.
