I have Windows XP Pro (genuine) with all updates and 1250mhz processor and 1gb memory.

Every time I turn my computer on, once it gets to the desktop with all programme's showing it freezes and i have to turn the power off and back on, and it always works the second time and loads up ok after windows preforms a "check disk", my file type is FAT2 If that means anything to you.

And the the other problem is that when it loads up, it always loads up to an account that is just called administrator instead of my account (paul) but when i go to log that one off, only my account (and guest account) is showing on the list, so i have to click on my name to load right, there isn't even an account just called administrator there??

Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance

When i have any two windows applications open, normally, you would click on the rear one to bring it to the front. On my pc it comes to the front by just passing the mouse over it. I dont like this. How can i reset it??

i had to take my pc back to the factory setting because of a fault,i am now unable to install norton systemworks,i downloaded and ran the norton removal tool,and was able to reinstall it.but could not install my norton antivirus until i got rid of norton system works,and cannot install norton systemworks whilst the antivirus is on the computer.

My laptop, which is about three years old, just shuts down by itself pretty much at random. It is very hard to do homework on it, so I end up saving my documents every two minutes. I recently had limewire on it, and I heard stories of that program corrupting and messing up people's computers. So I uninstalled it. But I still had the same problem. So then I performed a virus scan. When the computer did manage to let the scan finish, turns out that there weren't any viruses. I was wondering if anybody knows what is going on with my computer, and if there are any solutions. Thank you.

How can one minimise virus attacks to the computer? We seem to be having more virus attacks and they are becoming more lethal if not sophisticated? I have lost a good number of valuable documents when my note-book was recently found having a virus infection.

I'm told that a patch can be downloaded free in order to effectively cover and hide what I call 'bluespot' (a pixel or cluster of pixels) which appears on an otherwise perfectly 'clean' screen. It is ice blue in colour and stands out upon the black background! Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'm running avg 7.5 free edtion on windows xp. I have a red windows alert icon in the bottom of the page,I click on that it shows my Virus Protection is out of date. The AVG icon is black, it says the Internal virus database is out-of-date.
I have uninstalled the old one I had and reinstall a new one,but it still shows out-of- date. .What am I doing wrong?? Have I got the right Free Edtion? What have I got to do to get it right? I recently purchased a Linksys wireless router, model number WRT54G version 8.0 Yesterday it stopped working for no real reason, i have not updated the software nor done any windows updates that would change my settings. The 4 port lights are lit solid green, as well as the DMZ light. Everything else is off. I tried powering off, and reseting a number of times with no success. I have WEP encryption enabled also. The router is no longer functioning, I can't get an internet connection or a wireless connection. Is there a way to remedy this? Help! =(
