I recently had a motherboard that was DOA and I RMAd it and got a new one. So I then get everything hooked up and turn it on, yay, working. Then it stops and says Detecting IDE... and hangs. I unplug my one IDE drive and it loads up my cd-rom fine and says that I have 0 SATA drives hooked up when there is one in there... I come to realize neither drive is spinning up.... WTF. How could this have happened? Is it my error? I figure it has to be something I did because the only connection the HDD has to the motherboard is through IDE or SATA and I highly doubt that was the cause of the drives dying. Any advice? I had a lot of files i'd like to keep on those drives :/ I'm probably going to have to buy a new drive now, blah!

Hi! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 and I am trying to buy a 250 gig hard drive on ebay. The seller says that the cord that comes with it is a SATA cord and it is supposed to connect to the motherboard. Does my computer allow that?
Should I buy it?

Is it possible for me to attach a hard drive to my network by just purchasing a hard drive enclosure and a USB (or IDE or eSata) to ethernet adapter, then hooking that up to my router? What would not work in this setup?

OK, I was on a web site that wanted me to download the latest Firefox, so I did. Then I got a screen where the "finish" button was inoperative, the X in the upper right corner was inoperative, and the only way I could get rid of the [expletive deleted] was to reboot. So I did. Then when I had my computer up again, I clicked on the Firefox desktop icon, and bingo: back to the page I couldn't get rid of!

So I got mad and uninstalled it. But the end of the uninstall program said "tell us what you thought of Firefox." I clicked that, all prepared to tell them. Exactly what I thought of this won't go away routine. Bingo! Another "won't go away" right in front of the screen for the comments, and . . . why do they do that?

It was some promo about Google, I think. Is that why?

SO I just got an apple I book with an Airport card already installed. I am constantly traveling and was wondering is it possible to connect to the internet as it asmy maincomputer. How do I go about having it's own wireless network like verizon or cingular so that it doesnt matter where I am I can still get on. Is this even possible? Can someone help me out on this one. Muchly Apperciated.

And one with minimal inpact on my pc. I have HP printer and all that, but I am ltrying to have as little as possible on my pc. It ran great a year ago but I think that pictures are the reason it is logged down so to speak. I also am trying to weed out the extra music files. When I try to defrag it says I don't hve enough space do I want to anyways. So any ideas or experience is helpful and appreciated.

I bought a laptop with Vista Buisness, and I researched buisness seeing it doesn't come with Media Center, Windows Movie Maker, or Windows DVD Maker. Is that bad? I'll be using this laptop for college in the fall. I don't know the differences between business or home, please help!!!

Hello, I just got a HP Laser Jet 4 m Plus. I got it off of eBay. It didn't come with a owners manual. I was wondering where to get one off of the net. I just wanted it for making copies. I thought by obtaining a larger monitor I would have a large viewing screen page, but it is still only 15". There is about 1 inch space above the viewing screen page at the top and about 1/2" on the left side. The cursor will only go as far as the screen page.
Why did I invest in a larger monitor when my viewing page is the same as my old monitor?
I mean, I was thinking about getting even a larger, flat screen monitor, but what good will that do?
What's wrong and what should I do?

I have Office Pro 2003. Oddly enough, Frontpage didn't come with it.

I have Hotmail/MSN space/MyMSN and MSN Live seems interesting.

But I write html/css...etc. "by hand" (WYSIWYG).

It looks like they want users to use Frontpage. No? (I don't want to shell out near $300 for Frontpage or Microsoft Expression Web)
