Windows XP or Vista For my Aunties, Teenagers 1st Computer What's Best?

It is my Aunties first Home PC that she is about to buy from Dell, it's a pentium 3gig dual core processor, 20" flat screen, 360 gig hard drive, 1gig Ram, mainly Teenagers are going to use it.

She has a choice of XP or Vista that comes with it, which should she get, most people we know use XP thats why I am thinking get that in case she needs to share programes or fix any issues.

I downloaded some old radio episode files to a folder in My Documents. But when I tried to transfer them to Windows Media Player to burn them to a blank CD, WMP said it cannot handle this kind of file [Real Player].
I can't use Real Player to burn the episodes to a blank CD, because to create an MP3 disk with Real Player I would have to have the paid-for version of Real Player, and I only have the free version.
So how can I convert these Real Player old radio episodes to Windows Media Player? Or is it possible to download the old radio programmes from the Internet again but save them into Windows Media Player?
I have not explained this very clearly, but anyone who knows what I need to do will understand my question. The rest won't!

when I am connected to the net, and type ipconfig in command prompt, or I check my local area connection status, I get a certain IP address that I assumed is assigned by DHCP. But when I check a site like whatismyip.com. I get a whole different IP address that I can't seem to get anywhere else in my computer. What is up with that.

Saves_Fichieres??
Every time I open my usb/flash disk there is a folder which says USB_Saves and/or Saves_Fichieres. I cant delete it, if I rename it/format the disk, it reapears. Is it a virus? can I remove it?

Hello and i tried to make some changes on my Dell Laptop (Inspiron 9300) and went through msconfig command line, but when i hit apply changes, the message comes out that acces is denied i need to be logged in as a computer administrator (i am the computer administrator) and i i went to the user accound and it says i am the administrator. Does anyone know the solution? Thanks

I am trying to send an email to all of the employees of a business, so I set all of their addresses into a group. However, I would like to suppress the members of the group so that each recipient only sees themselves as being the recipient. I have an image that I'd like to copy a selection from. The trouble is the selection I'd like to make is not a solid block colour so I can't select it using the magic wand. The background is though, so I was wondering, is there a way to reverse my selection? In other words, magic wand the background (around the image area) and the reverse it so that the image is highlighted instead of the background.

Hope this makes sense?

they are using netcut and programs for absorbing the wireless net full speed and my net speed is awfully slow plus disconnection all the time coz of netcut they use
I hope u to tell me a program name or tool to get my wireless full speed as they do and also to protect myself against disconnection :(

Ive been trying to make a default layout but when i try to make one it doesnt show up as DEFAULT, it shows up as something else without the white part & its really confusing. Does anyone know how to make one? if so, i need it step-by-step.

okay, i just got my brothers used Dell computer. he wiped everything off of it, then reinstalled windows xp and microsoft office.

now the screen resolution is , well, everything is big. not sure if that means the res is small or large. but when i go to control panel, display, settings, it WILL NOT let me change the screen resolution, it is set all the way to the left. also the color quality is set at 16 bit, and there are no other options.

also under control panel, sounds and audio devices, and then after clicking on the hardware tab, it says everything is working properly, when that is not the case. i tried playing a cd on windows media player and it says the sound card is not active or something like that. im pretty sure its there, what is going on i hate these things.

It would not recognize my 2 disk drives and come to find out, the drives were corrupted. How did they get corrupted? I restored the computer back a few days, and they were fine again...but the moment I uninstalled Nero, they were corrupted again. Did it have to do with me uninstalling Nero? or was it just a coincidence? What I ended up doing was restoring the computer back again a few days so that the drives were working..and I reinstalled Nero, even though it was still on my computer and everything seems to be ok for the time being, but why did it corrupt my drives when I uninstalled Nero the first time???
