What is a Vista App?

An application the runs under Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, and that has been "certified" as capable and compliant with the programming API (the programmer's toolkit provided by Microsoft that lets programmers make programs that properly interact with the operating system). There is a certain amount of testing that must be done for applications to be certified. Microsoft has laid out the guidelines on their site (see sources below).
