Does anyone know how to place a lock on your writing under microsoft word or works. I want to start a diary on my computer but want to lock it...I have a Dell Notebook with XP Home...any help?

I work for a buiding maintenance company, and need to organise lists of equipment for buildings we maintain throughout the country.
What I'd like to do is to create an excel file for each customer, which opens up to display tabs along the bottom for each geographic area of the country. Clicking on a tab for a given area then reveals another workbook, with a new set of tabs for all the individual buildings within that area.
Note that I'm not talking about using hyperlinks linking to external workbook, but somehow setting the tabs to open workbooks within the same view, as opposed to individual worksheets.
I've seen this done, so I know it's possible, but I've looked extensively and can't find anything.
Any of you Excel wizards out there know how to do this?

I had scanned a picture of a drawing, and with my scanner's settings (HP Scanjet 5550c), it automatically converted the picture to Adobe PDF. When I tried to upload it onto the Internet (I wanted to use it as my Yahoo! Answers avatar and put it up on my MySpace page), it wouldn't allow it because it is in the pdf. format. Is there any way I can convert the picture into JPEG, or any picture format regularly used for the Internet?

My boot drive C: is making tons of noise, and is ready to go. How can I move everything, including Win XP SP2, to a new drive and then make it the new boot drive?
I don't want to move into Vista yet.
I have EMC retrospect software. Will that work?
I have an available second drive bay available.

It says to allow access or grant for 1 time or block access- The program says it is lxcytime.exe location in the c:/windows/systemspool/drivers etc etc What is this and why is it on there- can anyone tell me? and if it a bad virus or hijacker or nothing critical? This system blows! It seems I have to spend eternity looking for drivers to work everything that used to work on my old system. Why can't Microsoft get it together? They sell us this OS and expect their customeres to do all the work in getting sh*t to run right? I think I'm going return this thing and get a Mac. Any opinions?

I know, I know, it's really low thing to ask. But I've checked demonoid.com once a day for two months -- and yet keep missing the registration. I really need some of the older torrents there for school; they're obscure films I can't get hold of any other way.

Alternatively, is there any definite pattern to opening times, or any way of telling??

I know it to be a part of the unnecessary items that Microsoft decided to include in my Windows Xp Pro package, but I cannot get rid of the thing. From Google research, I've assertained the proceedures for uninstalling the process/application from my installed office programs. I normally have no problem, as I have removed it from other systems yet now I find myself against a resilliant opposition. I have totally uninstalled everything I can imagine that is related to "Office" ... "Word" ...and even all programs that are remotely related to wordprocessing. Is there another "nook" or "cranny" that the sneaky mind of 'King Bill' came up with but forgot to tell Google where he hid it ? I have instructed System Mechanics to prevent it from starting to no avail. AVG, Spy Sweeper and Ad Aware give my system a clean bill of health but it has gotten personal ! Please help.
