Since you mention "slave", this must be an IDE drive (SATA doesn't have master / slave) and there must be two IDE drives. These have 40 pin connectors with two rows of 20 pins each. Each of these cables can support two devices, a master and a slave. It is best NOT to put another hard drive on a cable already going to a optical drive. If your existing hard drive is already using one of the connectors of a 40 pin cable and the other is free, you can plug it in there. You will have to determine if the original drive is set up as "master" or "cable select" and set the jumper on your new drive to "slave" or "cable select" respectively.

This shouldn't have anything to do with the internet - if your drive is installed correctly and recognized you will be able to format it in the "Disk Management" window.

Good Luck

I don't really know what do you mean with "pick up the internet". For any file that you download from the Internet you can "pick" the place to put it on you computer and that includes the slave HDD. The IE program will remain on the master (C:) where it is the place that windows will look for it. Now you can also pick where in the computer to put a program, just make sure that the shortcuts to that program have the right location.

What do you mean, "pickup the internet?" When hard drives are daisy chained (as in non-SATA configurations), one is the master and one is the slave.
