When you are talking about high speed networking you are usually NOT talking about internet speed. You normally only need really fast network connections when you are trying to transfer large amounts of data on a local network.

Most people consider VERY fast internet as a 3 - 5Mbps connection. Even most tecnology firms only have 6 - 8Mbps. If this is a new laptop, it probably has built in WiFi - most likely 802.11g wireless networking:

802.11b (Typ thoughput 4 Mbit/s)
802.11g (Typ thoughput 19 Mbit/s)
802.11n (Typ thoughput 74 Mbit/s) - draft version only

As you can see, 802.11n will be (when finished) much faster than 802.11g, but the "g" spec is already several times faster than your internet connection. So use your internal WiFi-G and it will be fast!

Good Luck!

Hi. The newest spec, 802.11n, should be faster than any currently available one. I would hold out for cards based on this spec. http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9584_22-1016370.html
