If you want something a little more in depth, I recommend SitePoint books. They have one that is probably perfect for your situation called "HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS." That will teach you what you need to know to get away from tables and build fully compliant, flexible sites. They also have other, more advanced books on CSS, but I would start with that one. I learned html and css by looking at others source code many years ago. There are some online guides or books about the subject. Some web packages take care of the css for you, even if you used them for that , it's still a good idea to know what its doing underneath.

Buy a copy of Jeffrey Zeldman's book "Designing with Web Standards" and read it cover to cover. That's how I learnt.
Read anything by Eric Meyer - http://meyerweb.com/eric/css.
www.glish.com/css to learn about page layout with CSS.
www.csszengarden.com to see how great CSS sites can look.
Finally read the articles on http://alistapart.com for some imaginative solutions to coding problems.

There's an excellent class at www.w3.org.
Aside from that, I've found the best way for me was books and practice. My books were:
CSS: the Definitive Guide (Eric Meyer)
Eric Meyer on CSS
CSS Mastery (Andy Budd et. al.)
Professional CSS (Christopher Schmitt et. al)
and CSS Cookbook (Christopher Schmitt)

The only way to learn is to practice, and a book can really help.

erm what is the CSS that you know?
I know the one that is used by BT, if that's the one you are after you have to learn the codes that apply to your role.
DCS, DCA, DIX, EOCBR etc are common ones to get you started.
