before going ahead it says remove old norton i have looked on add or remove programs and i can not find the icon or program where else can i look to delate the old norton anti virus i have

I'm having issues with high ping while gaming. My ping will bounce between 250 and 300. I know that I need to close as much background "noise" programs as possible. I want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly. I'm running Windows XP Professional. What is the bare minimum to have running? Should I make any changes in "msconfig"? Something is seriously out of whack! My DSL is 2.4 mbps down and 440 kbps upload, and my PC far exceeds all game requirements. I'm at my wits end! Thanks for any and all advice that may help.

I have created a poster which will be printed out A2 size, however when i went to the printers, the resolution wasn't high enough. How can i make the resolution of the image higher so it's good enough for printing at this size?

I get either page can not be displayed or cannot find server, although MSN will come up and also when I am on MSN and try to put in yahoo it says done and goes back to MSN. This is VERY FRUSTRATING because all of my email etc. is through yahoo. Can anyone help me PLEASE?

i know that a network switch can filter unnecessary IP TRAFFIC , that is, it doesn't send IP PACKETS to the computer which hasn't the IP ADDRESS of the destination. but you know, an ethernet switch works at physical layer and data link layer, not NETWORK LAYER. so i suppose filtering unnecessary IP TRAFFIC is a router's capability. how can an ethernet switch achieve this? what's its principle?

I have had lot of people from my address book complaining that they have recently been receiving spam mail from my account. The email contains attachments like
Attachments00.HQX ,Video_part.mim
I have run complete virus scans with up-to-date virus definitions many times. Even tried formatting my computer, but nothing worked. I dont believe the virus is residing in my computer. So where is it ?? and how do i remove it???

My laptop stays in "SAFE MODE", posting an error message similar to: "Drivers32 file missing or corrupt".

While reading a website, I recieved a strange message that " files are being dumped to documents folder." After recieving the message, I noticed that it became progressively harder for the WINDOWS screen to load. Every time I turned on my laptop, the black and white "safe mode" screen would pop up....then countdown from about 30 seconds.....then pop up again, like a revolving door. No matter what I tried, the screen would just keep repeating itself -- without so much as even letting me see the password screen. Also, the power supply to the laptop became very erratic.

My question: Is it better to use the original software that came with my laptop and reboot to solve the problem? Or, is there some software that will repair my drivers and get my computer running again--preferably without rebooting?
